You will be part of a collaborative pilot team of technicians working across fermentation and recovery operations. The team combines strong production experience with scientific curiosity, using pilot-scale equipment to validate engineering hypotheses, optimize products, and troubleshooting complex challenges. Together, we support the advancement of sustainable biological solutions that make a real-world impact.
The Role & Your Impact
As a Fermentation Pilot Technician, you will contribute directly to experimental execution and process development by operating and optimizing fermentation systems.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Planning and scheduling experiments according to project priorities, while fostering effective communication across upstream and downstream teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment on experimental objectives.
- Executing fermentation experiments in strict accordance with experimental protocols and equipment operating procedures, while independently operating Lab/Pilot-scale fermenters and utilizing analytical instruments to monitor and evaluate key fermentation parameters.
- Identifying and responding promptly to fermentation process deviations, conducting investigations through data analysis and experimental studies, and implementing effective improvements to enhance experiment reliability and outcomes.
- Managing fermentation consumables and raw material inventories to ensure the uninterrupted execution of fermentation experiments.
- Documenting experimental operations and best practices, establishing and executing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and driving continuous improvement to enhance operational consistency, efficiency, and knowledge sharing.
- Taking ownership of assigned functional responsibilities, including documentation management, equipment administration and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fermentation Engineering, Bioengineering, Microbiology or Biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience in fermenter operation, with the ability to troubleshoot fermentation and fermenter equipment issues.
- Experience in fungal or bacterial fermentation, along with fermentation data analysis skills. Experience evaluating fermentation broth and interpreting process performance is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English, with good verbal and written communication skill.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to communicate openly and effectively with team members and stakeholders.
