Your Role

As Sales Development Expert – China, you will play a key role in driving new business growth by identifying and capturing emerging market opportunities across China's dynamic life science landscape. You will engage closely with key customers to foster collaboration and innovation, uncover new market segments, and maximize revenue and sustainable growth for Discovery Solutions business.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities across Pharma & Biotech, AGH, and I&T segments in China to drive sustainable growth for Discovery Solutions.
Build strategic relationships with key customers, scientific stakeholders, and ecosystem partners to enable long-term collaboration and value creation.
Conduct market research and customer needs analysis to identify emerging trends, unmet needs, and high-potential applications.
Collaborate with Commercial, Marketing, Technical, and global teams to translate insights into market development initiatives and go-to-market strategies.
Develop customer presentations, business proposals, and solution narratives aligned with customer priorities and scientific challenges.
Manage the sales development pipeline, ensuring timely lead qualification, follow-up, stakeholder alignment, and accurate CRM updates.
Provide customer insights, market intelligence, and competitive feedback to support product positioning and business strategy.
Ensure all activities comply with local regulations, industry standards, and Merck policies.

Who You Are

PhD in Life Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, or related field.
Strong understanding of drug discovery and translational research workflows.
Biopharma R&D experience, 6+ years of hands-on experience in drug discovery, biologics development, cell biology, preclinical research, translational medicine or advanced research platforms.
Knowledge of emerging discovery technologies in one or more of Organoids / Organoid-on-chip, 3D cell culture, Stem cell biology, Cell & gene therapy, High-throughput screening and Advanced biochemical or molecular biology platforms
Experience in management consulting, strategic planning, business development, or market development.
Strong analytical and business case development skills.
Excellent presentation and stakeholder management capabilities.
Track records in strategic business development including build new markets, establish partnerships, create sales pipelines and launch new technology platforms.
Willingness to travel extensively within China (up to 50%) and occasionally internationally (must-have).
