POSITION SUMMARY
Vertiv is recruiting a Lead EOL Test Engineer to design, develop and deploy automated end-of-line test systems covering Hi-Pot test, pre-Run-in functional test, Run-in test and post-Run-in functional test for UPS, DC power etc. power products across global manufacturing sites. This role owns the full lifecycle development of standardized automated test platforms based on LabVIEW and TestStand, undertakes continuous test script optimization, code refactoring and efficiency iteration, reads and analyzes circuit schematic diagrams to precisely classify failure root causes, drives R&D teams and external suppliers to fulfill 100% full test coverage targets for all product functional and electrical parameters, and supports customer and third-party witness test validation. The incumbent will drive test standardization, platform unification, test script performance improvement, yield improvement and test cost optimization to support high-volume, high-quality mass production. Ideal candidates shall have solid experience in automated test platform architecture design, reusable test module development, test script tuning, failure discrimination diagnosis and stable EOL test system deployment for power electronics products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead full lifecycle EOL test solution development covering four core test stages: Hi-Pot insulation test, pre-Run-in functional test, Run-in test and post-Run-in final functional test for UPS, DC power (Future include also Thermal product) and related components NPDI projects from prototype validation to mass production release; independently design and build unified automated test platforms based on LabVIEW and TestStand, develop reusable test architecture, modular test sequences and standardized API interfaces to support fast iteration and cross-product migration.
- Conduct continuous test script optimization, code refactoring, logic simplification and runtime efficiency tuning for existing test programs of Hi-Pot, pre-Run-in, Run-in and post-Run-in test stations etc., eliminate redundant code and invalid test steps, shorten overall test cycle time, improve program stability and reduce program crash rate in mass production.
- Read and interpret hardware circuit schematic diagrams accurately when test failure occurs across Hi-Pot, Run-in and all functional test links; perform targeted fault diagnosis to clearly distinguish whether the failure originates from defective DUT hardware product itself, abnormal test platform hardware, unreasonable test parameter range or flawed test script logic.
- Define complete test item libraries covering Hi-Pot safety indicators, pre-Run-in electrical performance, Run-in steady-state operating parameters and post-Run-in recheck specifications; proactively drive internal R&D design teams and external component/solution suppliers to implement and reach 100% full test coverage on all electrical, functional and safety-related parameters; establish test coverage audit mechanism and test matrix to guarantee zero missed test items before product shipment.
- Standardize and execute customer and third-party witness test procedures covering full EOL test flow verification, organize on-site witness validation, compile official witness test reports, and ensure all test activities comply with customer audit standards and factory outgoing quality specifications.
- Conduct test process feasibility analysis, cycle time simulation and risk assessment for test cells to optimize test flow, reduce testing duration and improve overall line OEE and production throughput.
- Apply DFT (Design for Test) principles in early product development phase, review hardware and mechanical design for testability checks, identify test blind spots, push R&D and suppliers to deliver design revisions, and propose design optimization to improve test efficiency and coverage.
- Collaborate with R&D, process, quality and supplier teams to align full-stage test strategy, verify test fixture compatibility, automated sequence logic and data traceability across test nodes for new product mass launch; clarify failure attribution via schematic analysis to accelerate closed-loop problem solving and push related parties to fix test coverage gaps
- Analyze EOL yield drop, false failure and field quality issues found in Hi-Pot breakdown, Run-in shutdown abnormality and Run-in functional drift; conduct root cause analysis via 8D, FMEA and Six Sigma methods, implement corrective and preventive actions to stabilize test consistency and reduce rework rate.
- Develop and maintain complete test technical documents including test specifications, SOPs, test coverage matrix, witness test checklists, fixture documents, schematic analysis guidelines and troubleshooting guidelines for test items.
- Oversee selection, integration, commissioning and validation of automated test instruments, custom test fixtures and EOL system software for power cabinet
- Monitor key test KPIs including FPY, test downtime, failure rate split by Hi-Pot / Run-in / post-Run-in stages, test coverage compliance and witness test pass rate to continuously drive Kaizen and process improvement through platform upgrade and script optimization; track test coverage completion rate and follow up R&D & suppliers to close coverage gaps timely.
Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing teams on automated test platform operation, program maintenance, test script iteration, schematic reading skills and failure troubleshooting classification for all four EOL test phases.
Skills
- Experience in high-volume production environments for power products in Asia-Pacific regions.
- Strong capability in automated test platform architecture development using LabVIEW and TestStand to integrate test verification into one unified test system; experienced in modular programming, sequence editing, database docking, data logging, report auto-generation and version management of unified test platforms.
- Competent in reading and analyzing power electronic circuit schematics;
- Ability to design reusable test frameworks supporting multi-product compatibility, rapid program migration and batch deployment for UPS and DC power supplies full EOL test stages.
- Proficient in building 100% full test coverage control system and test coverage verification matrix . possess strong cross-party driving ability to push R&D and suppliers to meet mandatory full test coverage standards to ensure outgoing product quality compliance.
- Experienced in customer and third-party witness test arrangement, execution and documentation covering complete test flow in mass production environment.
- Familiar with MES, SAP and factory data management systems to realize test data uploading, traceability and closed-loop quality control across all EOL test nodes
- .Rich hands-on experience in full-process power electronics EOL testing for UPS/DC products.
- Strong data analysis, schematic-based root cause troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration & driving capabilities.
- Fluent in English for global technical communication, project reporting and supplier technical audit.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering or related disciplines.
- Minimum 10 +years of EOL test development experience in power electronics industry, with proven experience in independent automated test platform development
- Experienced in establishing full test coverage standard system and witness test validation process for high-volume power product manufacturing multi-stage EOL test flow.
- Familiar with DFT, FMEA, 8D and Six Sigma quality tools.
- NI LabVIEW / TestStand certification and Six Sigma certification are preferred.
- Familiar with Vertiv NPDI gate review process is a strong plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make data-driven decisions.
