Regional Manager
About the role
Navitas is seeking a resourceful and performance-driven Regional Manager – South China to represent one of our esteemed university partners, the University of Waikato, across the region. In this pivotal role, you will drive international student recruitment, strengthen strategic partnerships, and identify new business development opportunities that support the University's internationalization goals.
Working closely with recruitment agents, schools, colleges, universities, sponsor bodies, and transnational education partners, you will play a key role in expanding the University's profile and achieving ambitious recruitment targets. As the University's on-the-ground representative, you'll collaborate with global teams, build lasting stakeholder relationships, and contribute to the successful delivery of innovative marketing, recruitment, and international engagement strategies across South China.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the University of Waikato at recruitment events, education exhibitions, presentations, and stakeholder engagements across the region.
- Advise prospective students on study options, support applications, and guide them through the enrolment process to improve conversion rates.
- Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with education agents, institutional partners, alumni, and other key stakeholders.
- Deliver regular training, guidance, and support to recruitment agents to maximise recruitment outcomes.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and recruitment data to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
- Identify and develop new institutional partnerships and business development opportunities aligned with the University's partnership strategy.
- Promote the University's programmes, scholarships, new initiatives, and digital recruitment strategies to increase enrolments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the University of Waikato College, and external partners to achieve regional recruitment objectives.
- Support in-country visits by senior University representatives and contribute to stakeholder engagement and regional initiatives.
Ensure compliance with University policies, data privacy requirements, and health and safety standards while handling confidential information professionally.

Employment Type:
This is an initial 12-month fixed-term appointment, with the opportunity for extension based on business needs and performance.
Geographical Scope
- The role will include significant interaction with a variety of stakeholders in the region and New Zealand
The post-holder will be expected to travel extensively within the region as part of the role. Travel to New Zealand and other countries may be required.

Qualifications & Experience
- An undergraduate degree.
- Proven track record of achieving recruitment targets, supported by sales and/or marketing experience.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities, persuade, and negotiate effectively in cross-cultural environments.
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, interpersonal, relationship management, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proficient in ICT, including the Microsoft 365 suite, with experience managing both paid and organic social media.
Fluent in written and spoken English, with international travel experience and the ability to represent the organisation across diverse markets.

Preferred
- Experience studying in New Zealand, preferably as a graduate of the University of Waikato or another New Zealand University.
Knowledge of the regional and New Zealand tertiary education sectors, with experience in analysing data and preparing reports to support recruitment and business development.

- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to travel extensively, including weekends and outside standard business hours, while working effectively across multiple time zones.
- Highly organised with excellent time management, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service.
- An articulate and professional communicator, capable of building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across cultures, organisations, and seniority levels.
A collaborative team player who maintains clear communication with management and contributes effectively to cross-functional teams.
