Job Summary

Technology & Architecture (T&A) is responsible for providing application and Infrastructure services to all business lines within the bank namely CCIB, CPBB, Data and Global Functions. The Cloud function lies within T&A and is responsible for engineering, building and supporting the Global IaaS and PaaS platforms for Public Cloud as well as Private Cloud in Standard Chartered’s footprints across the globe. The global team spans across multiple locations (Poland, India, Malaysia, China and Singapore)
We are looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer, who will be a key member of the team responsible for building and supporting the AWS & Azure IaaS and PaaS platforms for Standard Chartered Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Run Cloud Platform across Global Regions and ensure consistency in our use of Cloud Services.

- Be a recognised and trusted partner for business application owners and other technology teams who seek to make use of Cloud based infrastructure
- Supporting adoption of containers and container control frameworks

Processes
- Ensuring that Standard Chartered cloud environments are consistent with Bank audit and compliance requirements and consistent with the design ethos
- Automation and TOIL reduction
- Ensuring that all relevant platforms are being efficiently and appropriately supported in SCB Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) toolchains, including identifying opportunities for toolchain and operational practise improvement and refinement, and ensuring that ‘infrastructure as code’ deployment mechanisms are common and portable across Cloud and non-Cloud environments
- Cloud platform estate management including license / support subscription oversight, control and best utilization, automation of estate reporting and management, including close collaboration with other Platforms and ITIL Team team/product leads to ensure that Cloud Support needs are covered in line with Bank strategy and policy

- Incident Management for issues related to Cloud Services, acting as senior escalation and control point for Cloud Support (and wider Platforms Teams) and driving service restoration and stability during significant incidents.

- Comply with organisation risk management framework
- Adhere to common practices to mitigate risk in their respective domain

Qualifications
- Required - experience of deploying and controlling infrastructure in the cloud environment, preferably with Amazon Web Services or other cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform
- Required - experience and expertise in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practise – coding (Python), tooling and techniques, particularly evidence of leading organisational and cultural change to adopt CI/CD practises (Bank’s ecosystem - Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, git; Jenkins, Artifactory, Terraform, Packer, Rundeck, Ansible)
- Required – experience with at least one of data analytics tools such as Splunk and/or ELK
- Required - deep expertise in UNIX/Linux server and workload virtualisation, including hypervisors, networking
- Strongly advantageous - extensive experience and demonstrable accomplishments in selecting, designing and implementing automation and compliance frameworks that are applied to virtual compute resource deployments in the cloud
- Strongly advantageous - deep experience in multi-tier application architecture, development, deployment and support
