About the role
The Senior Electronics Engineer (RF) will work within the NPD Hardware Electronics team. This role involves the specification, design and testing of electronic circuits for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s New Category portfolio.
This role will be based in Shenzhen, China.
The role requires a highly motivated, creative, methodical and flexible individual with excellent communication skills, who is ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will be part of a team of Electronics Engineers working on development projects.
- Work within a cross-functional project team to deliver RF hardware and antenna solutions for Dyson in-house projects.
- Define requirements, produce design documents, perform technical risk analysis, and proactively investigate to solve problems.
- Design RF hardware, perform simulation and prove designs are robust with comprehensive laboratory RF design verification.
- Ensure design solutions meet product specifications and functional requirements (performance, reliability, DFM, cost and compliance with international regulatory standards).
- Collaborate with Radio Compliance team to send products for country radio certifications.
- Work with Wireless Certification labs to obtain Bluetooth SIG, WiFi Alliance & FindMy certifications.
- Define manufacturing RF testers requirements and support factory queries for any yield issue related to RF tester.
- Work with ODM/JDM partners to drive RF hardware delivery, contribute to sourcing proposals and to review the results and performance of the product from our partners.
- Provide on-site support and co-location at JDM or supplier workplaces as required.
About you
You will be a RF Design Engineer capable of working to generate high quality design solutions with minimal oversight and assistance from Senior engineering staff. Preferably you will have experience of consumer products and the whole product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to high volume production and product sustainability.
- Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline (Electronics/Telecommunications/RF-Microwave Engineering) or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in RF system design, with proven delivery of connected products.
- Experience in developing products with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC technologies and emerging protocols like Matter, along with embedded antenna systems.
- Experience in working with JDM/ODM partner to drive project delivery.
- Experience in regulatory RF testing for low power radio products and the related test house activities necessary for radio compliance.
- Knowledge of country radio regulatory test requirements from FCC, ETSI etc
- Knowledge of RF circuit design and RF PCB design considerations.
- Experience working on different embedded antenna solutions and able to test & tune antennas.
- Experience in using RF test equipment such as signal/spectrum analyser, vector signal generator, vector network analyser and WiFi/Bluetooth testers.
- Prior experience with RF simulation software like Ansys HFSS would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics and Altium.
- Understanding of DFM, DFA and DFT with EMC design awareness.
- Highly motivated, independent and self-driven with working level English, Mandarin communication and documentation skills.
