Role Overview
JLL is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President to join our Hotels and Hospitality Group in Shanghai, with a specialized focus on hotels and living assets. This role is critical to driving transaction volume and revenue growth across Mainland China. The successful candidate will lead deal origination and execution, provide leadership to junior staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base including institutional investors, private equity funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deal Origination & Execution
Lead the end-to-end execution of investment sales transactions for hotel, hospitality, and living assets across Mainland China.
Identify and secure new mandates from developers, owners, and institutional investors.
Prepare comprehensive marketing materials, including Investment Memorandums, financial models, and valuation analysis tailored to the nuances of hospitality and living asset classes.
Manage the due diligence process, coordinating with legal, tax, and technical advisors to ensure smooth transaction closings.
2. Client Relationship Management
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a broad spectrum of investors, including: Domestic Chinese Investors: State-owned enterprises (SOEs), private developers, and local family offices.
Inbound Foreign Capital: Global institutional funds, sovereign wealth funds, and international private equity firms looking to enter or expand in the Chinese market.
Outbound Chinese Capital: Assisting Chinese clients with cross-border investment strategies where applicable.
Provide strategic market insights, investment trends, and asset-specific advice to help clients make informed investment decisions.
3. Team Leadership & Mentorship
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
Oversee workflow and deliverables to ensure high-quality output and support the professional growth of the team.
Foster a collaborative environment within the Capital Markets team and across other JLL service lines.
4. Market Intelligence & Business Development
Monitor and analyze key market trends and dynamics in the Chinese hospitality and living sectors.
Actively participate in industry events and networking opportunities to enhance JLL’s brand presence and generate leads.
Contribute to the broader strategic growth of the Hotels & Hospitality investment platforms in Greater China.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum 5- 8 years of relevant experience in real estate capital markets, investment banking, or asset management, with a strong focus on Hotels, Hospitality, and/or Living assets. Proven track record of closing significant transactions in Mainland China.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Hospitality Management, Economics, or related field. An MBA or relevant professional designation (CFA, CAIA) is highly preferred.
Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the operational and financial drivers of hotel and living assets in China. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting foreign and domestic investment in these sectors.
Investor Network: Established network of both domestic and international investors active in the Chinese hospitality and living markets.
Language Skills: Fluent in Mandarin and English (both written and spoken). Ability to negotiate and present confidently in both languages is essential.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with real estate data platforms (e.g., RCA, Costar) is a plus.
