We are looking for a highly motivated product design engineer. As a member of our collaborative, multi-functional design team, you will be responsible for conceiving, crafting and producing exciting new products. You will work closely with US and Asia based Product Designers and many other multi-functional groups, including Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Operations, and Reliability.","responsibilities":"Develop designs rooted in strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, manufacturability (DFM), and assembly (DFA).
Create and iterate on detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings within NX.
Partner closely with Industrial Design, Product Design Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Operations teams throughout the product development cycle.
Collaborate alongside vendors to develop design and manufacturing processes. On-site support (primarily Mainland China) is required during prototype build phases. Travel may be required depending on location of factory site.
Perform dimensional and functional testing of prototype units while leading FACA on design related issues arising from manufacturing or reliability testing.
Support technology investigations and development.
Present work clearly and concisely to leadership and cross functional partners across multiple localities and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced design engineer with technical leadership experience on consumer product development.
Skilled working with Siemens NX or similar CAD package.
Proficient in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques (SPC), functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
Broad range of design, materials, and processing knowledge for textile, metals, soft polymers, and hard plastics.
Design validation skills: DFMEA, DOE, FEA, mechanical prototyping, and functional testing.
Experience working in a team environment across Asia and the US with experience working with China-based factories.
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS/Ph.D in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals (beam bending, free body diagrams) and ability to creatively apply concepts to new problems not listed in engineering textbooks.
2D and 3D CAD software experience.
Experience using statistical tools and techniques for analytical problem solving.
Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin.
