We are seeking a talented Senior Manager, Partnerships & Energy, to join Climate Groups regional office in Beijing, working at the forefront of Chinas energy transition.
The role involves close collaboration with both our China team and the global Energy teams to deliver impactful, fundable initiatives that accelerate progress towards a net zero future. About the role
This role sits within Climate Groups Energy systems portfolio and reports to the Head of Systems, China. You will work in closely with colleagues in Beijing and London to develop, manage and deliver initiatives that support the growth of renewable energy in China.
The role combines project delivery, stakeholder management, and business development contributing directly to the design of new initiatives and the successful delivery of existing programmes.
The role will take responsibility for shaping project approaches, stakeholder engagement strategies and delivery priorities within agreed programme objectives. You will often lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate inputs from internal and external partners.
Key responsibilities will include:

Lead the development and delivery of projects from concept through to implementation, including stakeholder engagement and campaign execution.

Establish and nurture strong relationships with critical external stakeholders including government bodies and industry partners, while coordinating engagement with our membership community.

Convene and facilitate high-level roundtables, interviews, and workshops to gather expert input and build consensus. This includes navigating challenging stakeholder conversations.

Engage relevant policymakers and government think tanks to facilitate project progression and influence the policy landscape.
- Collaborate with technical experts to develop practical guidance on renewable energy (RE) adoption within the specific context of the Chinese market.

Identify and develop opportunities for new initiatives and funding, contributing to the design of proposals and partnerships.
- Take ownership of specific workstreams, shaping direction, priorities and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful outcomes.

Prepare clear, high-quality analytical reports, briefings and presentations to advance project and organisational objectives. This includes supporting the development of strategic communications in collaboration with the Senior Communications Manager, China.

Monitor and report on project progress, including ad-hoc reports as required by funders and other key stakeholders.

Contribute to wider team priorities and organisational initiatives as needed.

About you
You will bring strong experience in project delivery within Chinas climate, energy or sustainability landscape, alongside the ability to take ownership of workstreams in a small team, shape and progress new initiatives, and navigate complex stakeholder environments across China and international contexts.

Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in project management, preferably within the renewable energy, climate policy, or sustainable development sectors.

Understanding of how local governments, industrial parks and related policy stakeholders operate in China, with the ability to navigate complex institutional environments.

Profound understanding of China's evolving energy landscape, including energy consumption patterns across various scenarios and corporate renewable energy procurement strategies.

Proven track record in managing multi-stakeholder projects, successfully engaging with government entities and private sector partners, ideally including with C-suite and board-level executives.
- Ability to bridge perspectives between Chinese stakeholders and international partners identifying common objectives and translating them into practical project outcomes

Strong aptitude for project delivery and budget oversight.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
- Experience of working collaboratively with international colleagues across diverse cultures and time zones.
Knowledge & skills:
- Strong knowledge of Chinas energy market policies, mechanisms and practices.

Knowledge of the indicators and frameworks used in establishing net-zero/green power industry development zones in China.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess regulatory/policy feasibility and identify market opportunities and challenges

Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across diverse political and professional backgrounds, along with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations and develop tailored solutions.

Understanding of the policy, commercial and financial drivers impacting businesses and NGOs.

Familiarity with global initiatives and policies on climate.

Our location
This is a full-time position, based in Climate Groups China office in Beijing.
The role will require occasional international travel.
