Job Summary (Primary purpose of this Role):
The Employee Relations Specialist acts as a consultant to all levels of people leaders and employees on job-related issues to facilitate resolution internally, thereby minimizing company liability, employee, and third-party complaints. This includes monitoring the company's internal environment, researching, recommending, and participating in HR policy reviews and program development designed to support a productive working environment.
Due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the job function, Employee Relations Specialist must be capable of functioning at a high level of autonomy and independence, be competent in dealing with a broad range of employee issues and confident when interacting with employees and management at all levels of the organization.
Responsibility:
1. Strictly implement Global and local processed on all involuntary terminations (redundancy, misconduct, non-performance, mutual separations)
2. Diligent and thorough investigation for employee related matters and provide case outcome recommendation for resolution
3. Review, create and implement local standards, guidelines, processes related to Global HR Policies owned by Global Employee Relations
4. Possess in-dept knowledge on local labor laws and the ability to interpret/translate to internal standards, process guidelines to ensure 100% compliance
5. Responsible in records keeping of all Employee Relations related documents following Global and local guidelines/process
6. Provide support as ER Consultant to HRP and HR Teams
7. Work with the Asia ER Team on Policy Simplification Project and other related initiatives
8. Close collaboration with the Asia ER Team in sharing best practices and learnings
9. Assist and support both Global and Regional ER initiatives in communication, enablement of leaders and implementation
10. Build and establish strong partnership with Chengdu HR Teams
Job Requirements:
1. Minimum of bachelor’s degree preferably in Social Science and Behavior, Human Resource Management or Law (preferred but not required)
2. At least 6 years of experience in the area of Employee Relations or HR Business Partner covering ER functions
3. At least 3 years of relevant work experience any of the following: IT/BPO, Finance and Insurance, shared services in a multi-national or global company
4. Fluent or comfortable in English language both written and oral
5. Experience in Workday and Salesforce (preferred but not required)
6. Well-versed in local labor law interpretation and transfer to actions
7. Ability to interact effectively with different teams and stakeholders in the organization
8. Skilled in managing difficult conversations through mediation or negotiations as well as facilitating arbitration
9. Organized, keen on details, values quality work output and demonstrates integrity at work
