We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities
- Lead technical design discussions, make pragmatic decisions, and ensure alignment with HSBC architecture, security, and engineering standards. Drive delivery across the full lifecycle: requirements clarification, design, build, testing, release, and production support.

- Design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance RESTful APIs (and where applicable, event-driven APIs) with clear versioning and lifecycle management. Ensure APIs meet non-functional requirements: reliability, latency, scalability, observability, and security.

- Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback. Build a healthy team culture with a “we succeed together” mindset—high standards, low ego, and strong collaboration.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Security, and Operations to translate business outcomes into technical deliverables.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, resilience patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers), and performance optimisation.
- Proven, hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-grade APIs (REST; experience with event-driven patterns is a plus).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies.
- Working knowledge of containerisation and cloud-native delivery (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes) and production support practices.
- Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenCode) to accelerate development tasks such as code scaffolding, refactoring, unit test generation, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Build integration services and microservices, ensuring clean boundaries, resilience patterns, and clear contracts.
- Collaborate with upstream/downstream teams to deliver seamless integration across platforms and domains.
- Strong ownership mindset and consistent track record of delivering quality outcomes.
- With strong e2e knowledge and mindset to support the API
- Fluent spoken and written English.
