Job Overview:
The Director, Marketing – Asia Pacific is a newly created role, responsible for leading Fortrea's regional marketing strategy across APAC, driving awareness, engagement, commercial opportunity creation, and brand differentiation across Fortrea’s clinical research services . Given the location of the main office, company leadership distribution, and clients' location, Shanghai-based candidates will be the primary consideration for this role. However, exceptional candidates with strong relevant experience from other major cities can also be considered. This role is designed to support all Asia-Pacific countries and serves as the senior marketing leader for the region, partnering closely with commercial, operational, scientific, and corporate marketing stakeholders.
The Director will be responsible for developing and executing integrated regional marketing strategies that align global priorities with local market needs, ensuring consistent messaging while enabling market-specific growth initiatives. The role leads regional demand generation, thought leadership, events, digital marketing, sales enablement, account-based marketing (ABM), and regional go-to-market execution to support Fortrea's global priorities.
As the regional marketing leader, the Director is expected to cultivate strong partnerships across business development, operations, medical and scientific leadership, and executive stakeholders. The role will also help shape a future regional marketing organization by identifying capability gaps, contributing to workforce planning, and building a scalable marketing team aligned to business growth and strategic priorities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Regional Marketing Leadership
- Develop and lead the APAC marketing strategy, annual plans, messaging framework, and investment priorities aligned to Fortrea's global growth objectives.
- Translate enterprise marketing priorities into locally relevant programs that address the unique needs of countries and customers across Asia-Pacific.
- Act as the primary marketing advisor to regional commercial and operational leadership teams.
- Partner with global marketing functions to ensure alignment of regional activities with enterprise campaigns, positioning, and brand standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and brand standards across all marketing outputs.
- Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and timelines for marketing programs.
- Perform operational and administrative tasks in support of the marketing department, and all other duties as needed or assigned.
- As a regional leader, this position requires the ability to accommodate and effectively plan work to support countries across different time zones and facilitate cross-regional collaboration.
- The expected travel requirement for this role is approximately 10%.
Demand Generation & Account-Based Marketing
- Lead integrated demand generation programs designed to increase market visibility, engagement, qualified opportunities, and pipeline contribution.
- Develop and oversee strategic marketing plans across paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Support the development and execution of account-based marketing (ABM) strategies in partnership with business development leaders
- Align regional marketing investments with target account priorities, commercial objectives, and customer engagement strategies.
- Partner with sales leadership to create personalized, high-value experiences for priority accounts and key buying audiences.
Commercial Enablement
- Support regional business development efforts through sales enablement programs, customer-facing materials, bid defense support, executive presentations, and account growth initiatives.
- Oversee development of regional market-facing collateral, case studies, presentations, and competitive positioning materials.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to improve customer insights, strengthen account planning, and identify growth opportunities.
- Lead regional events and thought leadership strategy, including industry congresses, executive forums, webinars, roadshows, customer events, and scientific engagement programs.
Market Intelligence & Performance Analytics
- Champion marketing analytics, testing, and optimization; ensure data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor regional market trends, customer requirements, competitive developments, and emerging industry opportunities.
- Translate market intelligence into actionable recommendations for commercial and marketing leadership.
- Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with global marketing functions to ensure alignment of regional activities with enterprise campaigns, positioning, and brand standards.
- Serve as a key liaison among marketing, sales, operations, proposals, scientific affairs, and executive leadership teams.
- Influence stakeholders across multiple geographies and functions to achieve regional business objectives.
Team Leadership & People Management:
- As we build the role out, be ready to recruit and lead a lean and high-performing regional marketing team to support the business growth needs.
- Set clear goals and priorities; ensure accountability for execution and outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture aligned with Fortrea’s values.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, marketing automation, CRM, and analytics platforms.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
Experience (Minimum Required):
- Minimum of 10 years in B2B marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in healthcare, biotech, or CRO industries preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and delivering measurable marketing impact.

- Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.

- Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
