The team moves fast, operates with high ownership, and is now building its presence in China, one of the world’s most important hydrogen manufacturing and deployment ecosystems.
About the Role
We are looking for a technically strong and ambitious China Growth Lead to help build the company’s presence in China.
This is an early-career role with significant growth potential. You will be the company’s person on the ground, working closely with senior technical and commercial leadership.
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. You will be expected to learn quickly, take ownership, build relationships, and grow into the role. You will have strong backing from the technical and operational teams, with a clear pathway to grow into a senior China leadership position as the company scales.
The role will initially launch through a China cross-border acceleration programme, giving you a strong platform, brand recognition, and a built-in network from day one.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Identify, assess, and build relationships with Chinese electrolyser manufacturers, component suppliers, BoP suppliers, engineering firms, and hydrogen project developers
- Use your technical background to evaluate potential technology, manufacturing, and collaboration partners
- Support manufacturing readiness in China by mapping suppliers, identifying potential contract manufacturers, and laying the groundwork for scale-up
- Identify commercial opportunities, including pilots, PoCs, supply agreements, and strategic partnerships
- Support conversations with government officials, industrial parks, accelerator stakeholders, and programme partners around subsidies, incentives, and JV structures
- Represent the company through the China programme and convert that platform into concrete business relationships
- Prepare structured analyses, partner assessments, and recommendations for the leadership team
- Work as a fully integrated extension of the core team, sharing learnings, opportunities, and decisions in real time
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- A technical background in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field
- Typically a Master’s degree or PhD from a strong technical university
- 2–5 years of post-graduate experience at a Chinese electrolyser manufacturer, hydrogen project developer, industrial firm, battery company, fuel cell company, power electronics company, or advanced manufacturing business
- Recent PhD graduates with highly relevant research backgrounds will also be considered
- Native Mandarin and strong English communication skills
- Strong commercial instinct, with the ability to build relationships, spot opportunities, and think like an operator
- High ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and bias toward action
- Sound judgement around confidentiality and intellectual property
Nice to Have
- Study or work experience abroad, including 海归 background or international internship/research experience
- Exposure to commercial, business development, or partnership work alongside technical training
- Familiarity with Chinese industrial parks, government programmes, accelerator ecosystems, or hydrogen manufacturing networks
