The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and debugging embedded software for motor control applications, ensuring system stability, performance, and compliance with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis & Benchmarking:
-
Study customer Letter of Requirements (LOR) and analyze competitor controller algorithms through software benchmarking using logic analyzers and other diagnostic tools.
-
Evaluate and optimize MCU resource allocation, including program/data memory sizing, clock speed requirements, and MCU model selection.
-
Collaborate with hardware engineers on MCU pin-out planning and system integration.
Motor Control Algorithm Development:
-
Design and implement Field-Oriented Control (FOC) algorithms in C and assembly for high-performance motor control.
-
Ensure control stability, noise reduction, and fast motor response time through optimized software design.
-
Develop time-critical subroutines in assembly language for real-time performance.
System-Level Problem Solving:
-
Work cross-functionally with product, hardware, and motor engineers to troubleshoot and resolve system-level technical challenges.
-
Manage software version control (C, assembly, production HEX files) and implement change management for design updates.
Debugging & Optimization:
-
Utilize logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and debuggers (simulators/emulators) for software validation.
-
Conduct code size optimization and develop specialized modules for product safety & lifecycle testing.
Qualifications & Skills
-
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years in embedded software development for motor control systems.
Technical Expertise: Proficient in C programming and assembly language (for MCUs).
-
Strong knowledge of FOC algorithms, real-time control systems, and MCU resource optimization.
-
Hands-on experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and embedded debugging tools.
Soft Skills: Excellent cross-functional collaboration with hardware and firmware teams.
-
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and version control management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
