ABOUT THE POSITION
Virtuos' Chengdu studio is looking for a Senior IT Manager to lead the studio's IT team and own the day-to-day delivery, reliability, and security of all studio technology. As a game co-development and content-production studio, our IT environment directly underpins art and engineering production.
The Senior IT Manager enables developers and staff to work productively and securely, while implementing Group IT strategy, standards, and security policy at the studio level. The role partners with peer studio IT Managers and Directors across the Virtuos group and reports into Group IT leadership. The overall mission is to let partners and staff work effectively while minimizing the time they spend on IT.
Studio IT operations & infrastructure
- Own the availability, performance, and reliability of studio infrastructure — network, servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and end-user computing.
- Manage high-performance creative workstations, render / build farms, and high-throughput storage that support art and engineering production.
- Plan, implement, and monitor infrastructure changes; maintain capacity for studio growth and new-project ramp-ups.
Group alignment, vendors & budget
- Translate Group IT strategy and standards into local execution; contribute to group-wide IT projects, reporting, and KPIs.
- Manage vendors, contracts, software licensing, and IT asset lifecycle; build cost-efficient relationships with hardware and software suppliers.
- Plan and control the studio IT budget and procurement; communicate regularly with studio management and Group IT on status, risks, and roadmap.
Information security & compliance
- Implement and enforce Group IT security policy locally; run internal security checks and support client, publisher, and internal audits.
- Meet client, publisher, and platform-holder security requirements, including physical and logical isolation of projects under NDA.
- Manage identity and access, endpoint protection, patching, data protection, and secure remote / hybrid access.
- Lead local incident response and business-continuity / disaster-recovery readiness (backup, redundancy, DR testing).
Game-development environment
- Operate and support development infrastructure: version control (e.g., Perforce), build pipelines, and project-specific environments.
- Manage console / platform development kits and ensure they meet first-party (platform-holder) and client security requirements.
- Partner with production and engineering to remove technical friction and keep projects shipping.
AI & emerging technology
- Provision and support AI / ML infrastructure for production — GPU compute, ML-capable workstations, and approved generative-AI tooling for art, code, and QA workflows.
- Establish and enforce responsible-AI usage in line with Group IT policy and client / publisher restrictions on AI-generated content, protecting IP and confidential project data.
- Track emerging technologies and AI-driven tools, and pilot those that improve developer productivity and IT operations.
End-user services & collaboration
- Run the studio service desk: onboarding / offboarding, ticketing / ITSM, desktop support, CCTV and meeting rooms.
- Manage software licensing across both production tools (game engines, DCC and render tools) and non-production/business software (office systems, productivity and collaboration tools) — including license-server administration, allocation, usage tracking, renewals, and compliance
- Own the studio software lifecycle: standardize, install, deploy, patch, and upgrade applications across workstations and servers, keeping versions consistent, secure, and aligned with project and Group IT requirements.
- Administer Microsoft Security and Identity (Active Directory / Entra ID), and device management (e.g., Intune / MDM) in line with Group standards.
Team leadership
- Lead, coach, and grow the studio IT team; manage hiring, training, scheduling, on-call coverage, and performance in partnership with HR.
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices for all critical systems.
