Qualcomm is leveraging its expertise in wireless and computing technologies to drive a major technological revolution in the automotive industry. The Qualcomm Automotive Team is seeking a CoreTech SME (Subject Matter Expert) to support the development and customer enablement of core platform technologies for next-generation automotive solutions. CoreTech encompasses the foundational software components that underpin all Qualcomm automotive platforms, including bootloaders, security, IPC, hypervisors, and core OS frameworks.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Serve as the technical authority for Qualcomm CoreTech platform components on automotive SoC platforms, including bootloaders (XBL/UEFI/ABL), Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), IPC frameworks (FastRPC, QMI), hypervisors (Gunyah, QNX), and core OS services
- Identify customer pain points related to CoreTech components and translate feedback into actionable engineering scope
- Partner with both internal and external teams in defining or selecting appropriate CoreTech software solutions for automotive use cases
- Review and provide support during detailed design phases, offering recommendations on CoreTech software implementation
- Oversee requirements and conduct solution reviews for core platform technologies across bootloaders, security frameworks, access controls, and IPC mechanisms
- Support customer integration and bring-up of CoreTech components on new automotive platforms and SoCs
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, integration guides, and best practices for CoreTech components
- Collaborate with CoreTech development teams to drive bug fixes, feature enhancements, and platform optimizations
- Represent Qualcomm in technical discussions with OEM and Tier-1 customers on CoreTech topics
- Mentor engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing on CoreTech platform architecture
- Availability in key meetings pertinent to technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- At the BS level, a minimum of 6 years; at the MS level, 4 years of software engineering experience in embedded systems
- Solid background in embedded software development for ARM-based systems
- Good C/C++ programming and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in 2 or more of the following CoreTech areas: Bootloaders (XBL/UEFI/ABL), Trusted Execution Environment (QSEE/TrustZone), IPC frameworks (FastRPC, QMI, IPCR), Hypervisors (Gunyah, QNX), Linux kernel core subsystems, SoC security architecture (secure boot, key provisioning, access control), SMMU/IOMMU, and core OS services
- Familiarity with Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis platforms and automotive SoC architecture
- Experience with automotive-grade software requirements (ISO 26262, ASPICE)
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR or automotive middleware integration with CoreTech components
- Experience supporting OEM/Tier-1 customers in technical integration and debugging
- Self-driven and comfortable spanning software, hardware, system, and commercialization skills
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
