Applications Engineer - Principal
Job Description:
Our customer applications require high speed (GHz) ICs for optical media access and signal transport. These applications are characterized by international development, fast design cycles, and demanding analog performance.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Specialize in MACOM’s high speed driver/TIA ICs and their specific applications.
- Provide expert level engineering support to customers, sales, FAEs, and marketing.
- Work with design engineering to produce product documentation and applications collateral.
- As a product specialist, solve challenging problems through analysis and hands-on lab work.
Qualifications / Skills:
- A BSEE or similar degree and 5 years of experience in a related position are required.
- A MSEE degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment and strong communications skills are essential.
- Experience with high speed optical module R&D is preferred.
- Lab experience should include: advanced test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and BERTs.
- Specific experience with high speed electrical or optical transmission interfaces, highly desirable.
- Extrapolating the measured results to circuit analysis in a customer setting is crucial to success.
- A familiarity with optical transmission module construction and associated standards is highly desirable.
