Responsibilities
Use lean techniques and tools to develop manufacturing processes, including automated processes where applicable, to enable new products to be successfully transferred to mass production.
Influence product design by ensuring Design for Excellence (DfX) guidelines are considered and followed to ensure final product specifications are suitable for mass production.
Perform process verification and validation trials to determine and evaluate process repeatability and stability for new products.
Develop PFMEAs, work instructions, process flow layouts, and root-cause analysis investigations to ensure high-quality throughput.
Manage NPI Engineers by facilitating regular one-on-one sessions to ensure engagement, motivation, timely resolution of issues, and address performance and training needs.
Provide visibility to the NPI Team Leader of any health, safety, and technical issues that could inhibit mass production.
Oversee and lead the requirements for any sample builds.
Drive manufacturing process efficiency improvement opportunities and ensure robust feedback loops between departments. Communicate lessons learned once products are in mass production.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned and delegated by the NPI Team Leader.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, or a related subject.
Varied experience in launching new products into manufacture using a phase-gated approach.
Excellent track record of implementing substantial improvement activities within budget constraints and challenging timescales.
Good understanding of lean and quality tools in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to structured problem solving, Six Sigma, SPC, 8D, 6S, Kaizen, DFM, and DOE.
Skilled at using AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Outlook, and MS Teams platforms/packages.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and lateral thinking skills.
Good command of English (written and spoken) is required.
