Sr. Supplier Development Engineer
Niche Technology Supplier Leadership
Provide technical leadership for high-risk and specialized suppliers:
- Lead in-depth technical and process capability assessments for complex or emerging technologies
- Drive resolution of critical supplier performance issues, including root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
- Identify systemic risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies at the supplier and product level
Supplier Maturity Advancement
Lead deployment of supplier maturity frameworks and improvement strategies:
- Drive comprehensive supplier maturity assessments across:
- QMS effectiveness and compliance
- Process capability and control
- Reliability, yield, and operational performance
- Translate assessment outcomes into prioritized improvement roadmaps for suppliers
- Influence integration of maturity results into sourcing strategies, supplier segmentation, and business decisions
- Monitor and track supplier maturity progression and performance trends over time
Supplier-Owned Quality (SOQ) Enablement
Champion and scale Supplier-Owned Quality across the supply base:
- Lead initiatives to shift quality ownership to suppliers, reducing dependence on inspection and downstream controls
- Drive implementation of:
- Robust process controls and control plans
- In-process monitoring and real-time data visibility
- Structured quality governance at the supplier
- Partner with SQEs to define expectations and ensure consistent SOQ deployment across Business Units
- Assess effectiveness of SOQ adoption and drive continuous improvement
First-Time-Right (FTR) Performance Leadership
Drive the deployment of FTR principles to improve supplier quality outcomes:
- Lead integration of FTR principles into APQP, NPI, and design transfer activities
- Ensure alignment between supplier process controls, critical-to-quality (CtQ) requirements, and engineering changes
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks impacting first-pass yield and product conformance
- Drive development of preventive, risk-based quality controls at the supplier level
Coaching, Influence, and Capability Building
Serve as a technical coach and influencer across suppliers and internal teams:
- Provide advanced coaching and mentoring to supplier development team members and suppliers on tools, methodologies, and quality expectations
- Lead the rollout and adoption of standardized Supplier Development practices, frameworks, and tools
- Drive consistency in execution through knowledge sharing, training, and best practice deployment
- Act as a subject matter expert for supplier development within the organization
Program and Project Leadership
Lead and deliver complex supplier development initiatives:
- Own and execute targeted supplier development programs for strategic and high-risk suppliers
- Define clear objectives, success criteria, and KPIs aligned with business and quality priorities
- Monitor progress, remove barriers, and ensure delivery of measurable improvements
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on status, risks, and outcomes
Compliance & Professional Development
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving regulatory expectations and QMS standard revisions.
- Complete required training and requalification activities when standards are updated.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for supplier audit practices and contribute to continuous improvement within the audit program.

- Strong understanding of medical device QMS, supplier controls, and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to assess complex manufacturing and quality processes and identify risk‑based improvement opportunities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills with external partners.
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound professional judgment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits in parallel.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel 50% domestically and internationally to supplier sites.
- Flexibility to work across different time zones as needed.
Minimum required Education:
Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in Engineering Science, Supply Chain Management, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum required Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience with Bachelor's OR Minimum 7 years of experience with Master's in areas such as Quality Engineering, Safety Engineering, Process Engineering, Continuous Improvement Techniques or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in Engineering

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
