Job Summary

Providing direct advisory services to customers on portfolio construction and portfolio review;

Ensuring SCB offers a differentiated, best-in-class, consistent advisory proposition across customer segments.

This will primarily involve providing professional expert advice to customers using the SCB advisory process for asset allocation, portfolio construction and portfolio review based on the full understanding of the customer's financial position, objectives, risk tolerance and other circumstances (but not including tax status).

The Investment Advisor also acts as a subject matter expert to customers/frontline staff on holistic view of the market, and support SCB wealth strategy in providing to higher value customers a higher level of customer service, and growing recurring income faster than the transaction-based income

Key Responsibilities

To ensure IA team monitoring MI portfolio on branch level to ensure healthy portfolio allocation aligned with group house view.
To ensure IA team to provide updated product training, market analysis, bank house view, portfolio advice and summary to frontline to ensure the explanation and information delivered to customers are correct and in good faith.
To lead the local IA team to support and work with frontline to handle customers’ complaints on MI product related issues.
To work with the frontline to ensure the sales process is properly handled to uphold the customers’ satisfaction and Bank’s service standard.
To work with frontline to ensure the investment sales activities to meet the compliance requirement of the Bank. Monitor any abnormal trend of sales activities and behavior.
To support sales events (e.g. seminars) for both internal and external clients, but not limited to organization and speaker.
Coach and develop team, responsible for training, hiring and career development of the team and manage attrition.
Must always comply with their respective Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and be alert to unusual or possibly suspicious customer activity and should report any suspicious activity to AML Surveillance Team and line manager as well as directly to the Country MLPO in urgent or exceptional circumstances.
Accountable for implementing and complying with AML requirements when performing duties.
Fully understand the importance of fraud prevention, prevent fraud risks, maintain safe and steady operation of the position, implement regulatory requirements of fraud prevention, strictly execute DOIs of the department, ensure to complete relevant trainings and embed fraud prevention in daily work.
Understand, acknowledge and comply with the requirements on individual accountabilities and responsibilities of the job set out in applicable local laws and regulations as well as SCB internal policies
Perform job duties with diligence, contribute to efforts as an individual or as a team member so as to avoid any actual or potential legal sanctions, regulatory penalties, material financial loss, or adverse reputational impact on the Bank. Be responsible for failure to follow relevant rules and processes, failure to properly perform the responsibilities, and implement corrections
Cooperate with any investigations or reviews on regulatory failure such as accountability review. Properly perform the duties on management and ensure the effectiveness of internal control
Be responsible for regulatory failure or risks arising from or in connection of the event over which the employee has the duties of management and/or leadership

Effectively ensure and intensify internal controls by keeping abreast with developments of applicable local laws and regulations on accountabilities
Be responsible for significant losses due to failure of effectiveness of internal control
Properly perform the duties on management and ensure the effectiveness of internal control
Be responsible for regulatory failure or risks arising from or in connection of the event over which the employee has the duties of management and/or leadership

Fully comply with all the regulatory requirements related to Consumer Rights Protection, uphold the robust mindset of Consumer Rights Protection, complete the Consumer Rights Protection themed training and workshop in due course, prevent the potential infringements of consumer rights, participate the public education, EV or other activities to uplift the public awareness about Consumer Rights Protection

Strategy

Based on materials issued by Group and Country Investment Advisory and Strategy teams, provide market briefings for RMs/branches/Hubs
Based on materials issued by Group and Country Wealth Solutions teams, provide updates on investment advisory process changes to RMs

Business

To ensure IA team to provide updated product training, market analysis, bank house view, portfolio advice and summary to frontline to ensure the explanation and information delivered to customers are correct and in good faith.
To work with the frontline to ensure the sales process is properly handled to uphold the customers’ satisfaction and Bank’s service standard. To work with frontline to ensure the investment sales activities to meet the compliance requirement of the Bank. Monitor any abnormal trend of sales activities and behavior.
To Lead IA teams to conduct one-on-one diagnostic reviews with each assigned RM on his/her portfolio at least [once a month], to: Align customer portfolios with their investment objectives, and aligning portfolios with house views
Balance asset allocation and thematic plays

Processes

Provide investment consultation in the customers’ best interests using the SCB advisory process, rather than focussing on the sale of specific products.
Help the customer to achieve his or her objectives, in the context of the customer's current needs/circumstances, in compliance with all regulatory and bank requirements and with the highest professional standards.

Outstanding ability to provide leadership, guidance and inspiration to the customers, RMs and other partners
Strong sense of self-motivation and discipline in execution
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes
Ability to network with internal and external business stakeholders.

Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in China/Wealth Management/IA team Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats); [(i)RM Coaching - Engage RMs proactively in discussions about advisory process, product and idea generation by interacting closely with the RMs, customers and product partners (Funds or CBMS teams). Conduct diagnostic activities with RMs. The Investment Counsellor aims to ensure RMs are fully skilled to provide product and portfolio advice to their customers.
(ii)Client Wealth Seminar Presentation – Prepare and present client wealth seminars, answer all Q&As, with the purpose of generating new leads for RMs by giving customers new ideas from the seminars]

Investment Advisor: Bachelor’s degree with 4 - 8 years in Investment Consulting either within a bank, insurance company or independent financial advisory firm
Senior Investment Advisor: Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 10 years in Investment Consulting either within a bank, insurance company or independent financial advisory firm
