Job Summary
The ESH Engineer is responsible for supporting basic environmental, safety, and health activities, including inspections, data collection, and compliance monitoring. This job profile is intended for early-career professionals who apply broad theoretical knowledge and require the ability to investigate and analyse problems. Solutions are typically discussed/verified with a more senior member.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Implement applicable national workplace safety laws and regulations, standards and specifications, and the company’s safety management system; implement the safety production responsibility system.
- Conduct daily on-site safety inspections and hazard identification and rectification. Focus on high-risk activities such as machinery operations, welding, chemical use, dust-related work, working at height, hot work, temporary electrical work, and heavy lifting/handling.
- Supervise workers correct wearing and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and promptly stop the “three violations” (unauthorized command, unsafe/unauthorized operation, and violation of work discipline).
- Organize three-level safety induction training for new employees, pre-job/toolbox safety briefings, special safety training, and emergency drills to enhance safety awareness and emergency response capability.
- Participate in permit-to-work approvals and on-site monitoring for hazardous operations; verify work conditions, control measures, and personnel qualifications to ensure compliant execution.
- Conduct periodic inspection, maintenance, and management of fire-fighting facilities, emergency equipment, and protective supplies to ensure they are in good condition and effective.
- Improve safety signs, warning boards, and safety communication materials, and promote on-site safety culture.
- Participate in the investigation and handling of safety incidents/accidents; perform root-cause analysis, record and report findings, and track implementation of corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain safety records, inspection logs, training files, and hazard rectification closure records to ensure they are standardized and complete.
- Complete other workplace safety management tasks assigned by supervisors.
