MANAGER RETAIL DESIGN – ARCHITECTURE
PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION:
This role is responsible for driving the architectural development of retail concepts in Greater China, including both the localization of global concepts and the creation of China-for-China (C4C) concepts that respond to evolving consumer and marketplace opportunities.
The position leads the end-to-end concept journey from insight generation and concept creation to pilot execution and validation, ensuring retail solutions are desirable for consumers, executable for the business, and scalable for future deployment.
By transforming consumer and marketplace insights into tangible retail solutions, the role drives concept innovation, validates new ideas through pilot stores, and establishes scalable benchmarks that shape the future retail experience in Greater China.

C4C C
ONCEPT DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATION
- Lead the development of retail concepts for Greater China, including both global concept localization and China-for-China (C4C) concept creation.
- Translate consumer, marketplace and business insights into impactful retail architecture solutions.
- Define concept design principles, spatial strategies and architectural direction for future retail experiences.
- Ensure concepts are relevant, feasible and scalable for future deployment.
2. PILOT STORE DEVELOPMENT & VALIDATION
- Lead end-to-end architectural development and implementation of pilot stores.
- Drive concept validation through pilot execution, design reviews and stakeholder engagement.
- Capture key learnings and insights to optimize concept performance and consumer experience.
- Translate pilot outcomes into recommendations for future concept evolution and rollout.
3. CONCEPT LOCALIZATION & ADAPTATION
- Drive the adaptation of retail concepts to meet Greater China consumer, channel and business needs.
- Validate design solutions, standards and experience elements for successful market implementation.
- Balance local relevance with brand consistency across concept development.
- Identify opportunities to elevate concepts through market insights and innovation.
4. PROJECT LEADERSHIP & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across concept development and pilot implementation.
- Drive alignment and decision-making with key stakeholders through structured review processes.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal teams and external consultants.
- Ensure projects are delivered against agreed objectives, timelines and quality standards.
5. CONCEPT SCALABILITY & COST OPTIMIZATION
- Evaluate concept feasibility, implementation of readiness and cost efficiency.
- Identify scalable architectural solutions that balance consumer impact, brand ambition, and commercial requirements.
- Support value engineering and optimization throughout concept development and pilot execution.
- Develop recommendations and design principles for future rollout and expansion.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
:
- Strong expertise in retail architecture, concept development and consumer experience design.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and influence cross-functional stakeholders within a matrix organization.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of concept implementation, pilot validation and scalable retail solutions.
REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor or above degree in Architecture, Interior design or related discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience in retail architecture, concept development or store design.
- Proven track record in delivering retail concepts, flagship and/or pilot store projects.
- Strong understanding of retail implementation, construction and design development processes.
- Experience working within a cross-functional and matrix organization.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
