Role Description
This position is a member of the Office of Career Services, Outreach, and Alumni at The Tianjin Juilliard School and reports to the Director of Office of Career Services, Outreach, and Alumni. This position will help develop and implement special events, programs, and projects sponsored by the Office of Career Services, Outreach, and Alumni with a primary focus providing valuable opportunities to current students and alumni through professional development opportunities, outreach opportunities, and the overall goal of building Tianjin Juilliard’s presence in the region.
The ideal candidate is fluent in both Mandarin and English, has work experience in a school or office, is adept at public speaking, and is able to provide exceptional customer service to The Tianjin Juilliard School’s growing student and alumni base. A background in music, experience with customer relations, and experience working or studying outside of China is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Office of Career Services, Outreach, and Alumni to coordinate, implement, and evaluate all professional development workshops/seminars, outreach events, and/or alumni events
- Work closely with the Director of Office of Career Services, Outreach, and Alumni to attend meetings with various government and business community partners
- Assist and support the development and implementation of programming that promotes career readiness of graduate students and alumni
- Assist in the planning and execution of events that involve current students and alumni of the School, working in tandem with Career Services and Outreach, as well as Office of Development.
- Create and maintain relevant databases pertaining to departmental events
- Coordinate and produce reports, post event reports and recommendations, and proposals relevant to the evaluation and growth of the services for current students and alumni
- Develop, sustain, and strengthen current student and alumni relations by connecting them to TJS operations near them, i.e., performances, Continuing Education and Public Education opportunities, Admissions events, etc.
- Assist in cross-departmental collaborations to design and implement programs that involve multiple departments of the institution
- Recruit and supervise student employees, volunteers, alumni as appropriate
- Participate in ongoing professional development for awareness of recruitment strategies, issues, and best practices in higher education
- Provide excellent and culturally sensitive customer service to a domestic and international Alumni base
- Remain curious, positive, and engaged in developing good systems, practices, and customer service as programs are launched and continue to evolve
- Perform other duties and participate in other projects as assigned
Professional Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years of administrative experience or equivalent experience
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English
- Experience with computer applications, web-based tools, and social media
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially business writing skills in English
- Great writing skills in Chinese and translation skills
- Well-developed organizational, analytical, and administrative skills
- Goal-oriented, curious to learn, and self-motivated
- Able to manage a broad scope of responsibilities, maintaining great attention to quality and detail
- Good diplomatic skills and professional attitude
- Strong integrity and sense of responsibility
- Demonstrated experience delivering friendly, patient, and thorough customer service
Preferred Background:
- Higher education degree in education, English or performing arts
- Knowledge of Western Classical Music
- Knowledge of global network of peer institutions, and educational systems both in China and the United States
- Experience studying, working, or living in another country
- Strong database management skills, i.e. experience working with a student database and customer relationship management systems
- A proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers
- A proven ability to plan, organize, and facilitate a range of special events in coordination with other departments
- A proven ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate effective workshops and seminars pertaining to professional development for current students and/or alumni
- A proven ability to develop alumni chapters as the alumni base grows globally
