PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Product development per demand
- Technically support local team, to move new project forward to volume production smoothly.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop new mechanical products, including cables and other miscellaneous related mechanical hardware.
2. Lead new product development efforts executing Product Development Phase Gate Process from development of the product concept through volume production while adhering to project schedule; Design includes all aspects of product development such as: 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, design layouts, engineering changes, technical documents, tolerance analysis, product testing, etc.
Work with manufacturing engineering to develop manufacturing processes utilizing the latest 3D CAD modeling techniques and other Design for Manufacturability (DFM) tools.
3. Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and inside product marketing personnel
4. Use risk reduction tools to perform FEA, model simulation etc. Design analysis is expected; Provides input to the DFMEA analysis of the product as required.
5. Performs design verification activities to ensure that design meets the specifications of the customer, UL requirements, and environmental testing.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned by management
SCOPE: The New Product Launch Engineer is responsible for coordinating and executing new product introduction activities for connector and cable products. The role ensures readiness of materials, tooling, fixtures, and processes, supports validation builds, resolves technical issues, and provides manufacturability input to design teams. This position ensures a smooth and controlled transition of new products from development into stable mass production.
EDUCATION:
REQUIRED: Bs in an engineering discipline or a minimum of 5 years working experience as an engineer
PREFERRED: MS in an engineering discipline most applicable to mechanical Design
WORK EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED: 5 years ' engineering experience with an engineering degree
PREFERRED: 10 years ' experience in connector or cable development
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
- Good writing and spoken English.
- Understanding of Tolerance analysis, DFMEA, FEA.
- Knowledge on component design (injection, diecasting, sheet metal).
- Proficient in solid modeling experience to generate 3D models & 2D drawings and knowledge of drafting standards and design layout.
- Intermediate skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point
- Ability to work independently and to effectively communicate with global cross functional teams.
PREFERRED: Experience with FEA, Thermal Simulation, SPC software
