Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of the Position:
The Production Specialist is responsible for supporting daily production operations, monitoring production performance, coordinating cross-functional resources, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth execution of the production plan and improving overall manufacturing efficiency.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Support daily production activities to ensure the achievement of production targets in safety, quality, output, and delivery
Monitor production status, identify abnormalities, and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues in a timely manner
Track and analyze production KPIs such as output, cycle time, yield, downtime, OEE/TAU, and labor productivity
Assist in production planning and scheduling to ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth production operations
Prepare and maintain production reports, records, and related documentation accurately and on time
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process efficiency
Support implementation of lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and other operational excellence initiatives
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards during production operations
Assist in operator training, process standardization, and knowledge sharing to improve team capability
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for production-related issues
Support new product introduction, process transfer, or capacity expansion activities when required
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations support; fresh graduates with strong potential may also be considered depending on role scope.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, production control, and shop floor operations
- Familiarity with production KPIs and continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of ERP/MES systems is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma is preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Good command of written and spoken English is preferred.
Experiences/Education - Desired
Knowledge of capacity planning and productivity improvement.
Experience in production reporting and data analysis
Familiarity with equipment utilization management
Project coordination and follow-up capability
