The Asia Pacific Division has an opening for an Associate Business Development Engineer to be based in the FM Approvals office in Bangalore, India.

We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven individual to be part of FM Approvals. The incumbent will serve as FM Approvals’ main contact point for manufacturers and key stakeholders within the assigned territory with the primary objective to expand the availability of FM Approved products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the business development activities in India. Develop relationship with manufacturers and attract them to FM Approvals
- Be familiar with regulatory requirements that impact the products which FM Approvals tests and certifies. Including but not limited to products that fall under the local mark as well as products that are still under a voluntary certification scheme
- Assist FM and FM Approvals in identifying opportunities to participate in standard development activities in China
- Develop the relationship with the nationally recognized testing laboratories, end users and local authorities.
- Conduct assigned tasks to ensure that the results will provide accurate and reliable data and technically sound and factual conclusions.
- Expand on technical knowledge providing support to Technical and Quality groups, delivering services to FM Approvals’ customers.
- Develop competence in a progressively increasing number of engineering or scientific techniques and applications to meet FM Approvals objectives.
- Participate in scope, budget, contract preparation, testing, data documentation and other routine tasks associated with third party product or service certification and research projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical area with minimum 5 years related experience;
- Technical sales or business development experience highly desired;
- Technical competence and certification experience in building material and fire protection products testing is desired;
- Familiar with local and/or international building safety codes and standards as well as informed on industry trends;
- Familiarity with project management skills including technical, financial, and personnel management;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office for business and technical communication;
- Candidate should be able to build proficiency in the use of CRM software to ensure customer information is organized;
- International company experience highly desired with ability to work with cross-functional teams;
- Willingness to travel extensively which could be approximately 40% of the time.
