Overview
This position is a senior leader responsible for driving our tech (prefer semiconductors or AI ecosystem) client portfolio's growth and strategy. This role demands a seasoned PR professional with extensive experience in the technology industry in China, a proven track record of developing and executing successful, integrated communication strategies for tech brands, and exceptional client relationship management skills. The Director will lead new business development within the tech sector, oversee strategic account management for key tech clients, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver cutting-edge PR solutions that align with the rapid pace of tech innovation.

Strategic Leadership & Tech Business Growth
- Develop and implement strategic PR plans specifically for tech clients, aligning with their product roadmaps, market launches, and business objectives within the unique Chinese tech ecosystem.
- Lead new business development efforts focused on the tech sector, including identifying opportunities, crafting compelling proposals that demonstrate deep tech understanding, and pitching prospective tech clients.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction and growth, identifying opportunities for innovation and expansion within our tech practice.
- Stay abreast of global and local tech trends, emerging technologies, competitor activities, and the evolving digital and media landscapes in China to inform agency strategy and client counsel.
Client Relationship Management (Tech Focus)
- Serve as a senior client contact and trusted advisor for key tech clients, fostering strong, long-term relationships with C-suite executives and marketing/communications leaders in the tech industry.
- Ensure client satisfaction and retention by consistently delivering high-quality results and proactive strategic counsel on complex tech communication challenges.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell agency services to existing tech clients, particularly around digital, content, and thought leadership for the tech space.
- Manage client expectations and resolve any issues or challenges effectively and professionally, often dealing with highly technical or sensitive information.
Tech Account Management & Execution Oversight
- Oversee the strategic planning and execution of comprehensive PR/IMC campaigns for tech clients across traditional, digital, and social media channels (including niche tech media and forums).
- Provide senior-level counsel on media relations, crisis communications (especially for product recalls, data breaches, or tech controversies), thought leadership, analyst relations, influencer engagement (KOLs/KOCs in tech), and technical content creation.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality deliverables, meeting deadlines and exceeding client expectations for complex tech launches and announcements.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance using relevant tech-focused metrics, providing insightful reports and data-driven recommendations for optimization.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of PR professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the tech PR practice.
- Conduct performance reviews, set clear goals, and support the professional growth of team members, encouraging their understanding of new technologies and industry trends.
- Delegate tasks effectively and manage team workload to ensure efficient resource allocation, especially during intense product launch periods.
- Act as a role model for ethical conduct, professionalism, and commitment to agency values, particularly when handling sensitive client information.
Market Expertise & Tech Cultural Nuance
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Chinese tech media landscape, including specialized tech publications, influential tech bloggers/KOLs, industry analysts, and relevant online communities.
- Navigate the complexities of technology-related regulations and government policies in China, understanding their impact on PR strategies for tech companies.
- Possess strong cultural intelligence and the ability to adapt communication approaches to resonate with Chinese tech consumers, developers, and enterprise decision-makers.
- Maintain a robust network of tech media contacts, industry influencers, tech analysts, and relevant stakeholders in Beijing and across China.
