Objective of job
As a world-leading OEM, Mercedes-Benz is looking for experienced experts who share the same passion and enthusiasm to bring SOA features into our product.
Spearheading the company’s shift to Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), this role is responsible for planning the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) strategy, addressing the pain point of tight hardware-software coupling in traditional vehicles, supporting rapid iteration of vehicle functions and user experience upgrades, and helping the company build an extensible, highly reusable software ecosystem to seize the technological high ground in intelligent vehicles.
Task description1. Architecture Design and Management
Lead the core architecture design of the vehicle‑on‑board SOA platform, including service layering, interface specifications, communication protocols (e.g., SOME/IP, DDS, MQTT), and service governance frameworks.
Design cross‑domain service‑oriented solutions spanning Body, Powertrain, Intelligent Cockpit, Autonomous Driving, etc., to achieve hardware abstraction and software decoupling.
Establish and maintain SOA design principles, standards, and best practices, ensuring unified compliance across internal teams and external suppliers.
2. Technology Implementation and Deployment
Lead the development and integration of critical service components; guide the team in service modeling, interface definition, and code generation.
Drive SOA adoption in mass‑production programs, coordinating software–hardware integration, test validation, and performance optimization.
Establish a service lifecycle management mechanism covering version control, compatibility policies, and OTA (Over‑The‑Air) upgrade support.
Lead a small-scale outsourcing engineer team(3-5 members) in project delivering, including: compiling software requirements, preparing technical solutions, task breakdown and allocation, tracking delivery progress and quality, supporting the team leader in managing the performance of outsourcing engineers
3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Advocacy
Collaborate with global R&D centers, product teams, and suppliers to ensure effective deployment of SOA solutions across multiple vehicle platforms.
Organize internal technical training sessions and workshops to enhance the team’s understanding and practical capabilities in SOA architecture.
Engage in technical exchanges with industry standard organizations (e.g., AUTOSAR, SOAFEE) and bring in external best practices.
Define performance and stability test cases and perform issue diagnosis and resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
5. SOA Strategy and Planning
Develop an enterprise‑wide SOA implementation roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company’s technology vision and business objectives.
Analyze emerging trends in SOA within the automotive industry, propose innovative architectural solutions to support the long‑term evolution of Software‑Defined Vehicles (SDV).
Promote SOA adoption internally and drive its implementation across business teams, encouraging the use of SOA communication architecture.
5. Risk Management and Quality Assurance
Identify technical risks in SOA implementation (e.g., real time performance, security, reliability) and develop mitigation measures.
Lead architecture reviews to ensure design proposals comply with functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (ISO 21434) requirements.
