Apple's iPad division is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow its System EE team in China. In this role, you will lead a team of talented electrical engineers who own responsibility for entire products from concept to ship. Sitting at the nexus of Apple's wider engineering team, you will drive cross-functional collaboration with mechanical engineering, software, and other module teams such as wireless, battery, camera, sensing, display, multi-touch, factory test, and silicon engineering. Your team's core responsibilities involve the design of the main logic board and flex circuits in the product, along with power conditioning and distribution throughout the system. Furthermore, you will guide the team through NPI activities to successfully push the product to market.

As the Hardware Engineering Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities involve leading your team through the electrical architecture, design, bring-up, debug, and validation of iPad products. You will be responsible for project resource planning, execution, and the mentorship and career development of your team members. Routine responsibilities also include overseeing factory build support and driving high-level multi-disciplinary collaboration and negotiation. We are looking for a well-rounded technical leader with a strong track record of managing high-performing teams, a broad set of technical skills, and the strategic vision to guide the team in tackling challenging problems. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise to be a core member of the team, leading and driving team efforts, and mentoring and developing team members
Demonstrated expertise to understand technology and debug problems at varying levels of abstraction, from the system-level down to the silicon/transistor level
Solid understanding of design and validation requirements for common low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces: I2C/SMBus, SPI, JTAG, I2S/TDM, USB, MIPI, PCIe, HDMI, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, DDR Memory
Solid understanding of power design, especially DC-DC power design, debug and characterization.
Understanding of computer architecture and design tradeoffs
Automation and data manipulation script development using Python, Lua, and Bash
Data analysis and visualization using Python, Tableau, JMP, R, and/or Matlab

Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS EE with 8+ years of overall industry experience.
2+ years of engineering management experience, with a proven track record of building, mentoring, and developing high-performing hardware teams.
Solid EE fundamentals, grounded in a proven understanding of E&M physics and first principles
Extensive prior experience in circuit design, bring-up, and debug for a variety of domains including power, digital, analog, high-speed communications, programmable logic, and/or wireless.
Deep understanding of schematic design and constraint-driven PCB layout processes using Cadence tools or similar.
Strong background in PCB bring-up and debug, including new or custom silicon, using standard EE lab equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to distill complex technical issues for executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
