Job overview and responsibility
The Procurement Manager leads end-to-end procurement for both liner shipping and freight forwarding, securing competitive rates, stable space, and reliable suppliers across sea, air, rail, trucking, and warehousing. The role bridges commercial, operations, and carrier management, ensuring China’s procurement strategy supports growth, profitability, and service reliability.
- Negotiate FAK, Named Account Contracts, Spot Rates and long-term contracts with major carriers.
- Secure carrier FCL contracts, co-loader agreements, and LCL consolidation partnerships to ensure stable space, predictable schedules, and strong margins.
- Support commercial teams with FCL/LCL pricing, RFQs, VIP client solutions
- Manage space allocation, monitor utilization, and adjust strategy based on market conditions.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, booking agents, and terminals.
- Follow up closely rate updates and services info for all China trades (Asia–EU, Asia–US, ISC, MED, LATAM).
- Analyse market trends, carrier behaviour, blank sailings, and seasonal patterns.
- Issue market guidance to sales and overseas offices.
- Ensure rate accuracy, compliance, and timely distribution.

- Support space issue resolution, equipment allocation, and special cargo requirements.
- Provide pricing solutions for bids, RFQs, VIP clients, and project cargo.
- Support overseas agents with China-origin pricing and market intelligence.
- Work closely with operations, customer service, finance, and project teams.
- Ensure procurement strategy aligns with business development goals.
Required skills and experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain.
- Strong command of Mandarin and English.
- 5+ years in liner shipping and freight forwarding.
- Deep knowledge of global trade lanes and carrier procurement models.
- Proven experience negotiating with carriers and managing multi-modal suppliers.
- Excellent relationship-building with carriers and suppliers.
Preferred skills and experiences- Background in both liner operations and forwarding procurement is a major advantage.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- High resilience in fast-changing market conditions.
