Purpose
As Piping Material Engineer, you are responsible for the piping material engineering activities for the projects by supporting the selection, specification, procurement and documentation of piping materials. You work under the guidance of Senior Material Engineers to ensure that materials comply with the project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards, contributing to safe, reliable, and cost-effective piping systems.
Responsibilities
You assist in preparing piping material specifications, material requisitions, and data sheets in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards (including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASTM, API, BS, MSS‑SP, and NACE).
You support the selection of piping materials, including pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, and specialties, under supervision.
You perform piping material–related calculations, including pipe wall thickness calculations, in accordance with applicable design codes and project specifications.
You are responsible for planning and completing activities and deliverables within agreed time frame, as well as for ensuring system interfaces.
You prepare, review, and develop piping material specifications, valve material specifications, specialty item datasheets, piping bulk Material Take-Offs (MTOs), and manual valve Material Take-Offs (MTOs).
You prepare material requisitions and execute procurement engineering activities, including technical bid evaluations, technical offer reviews, vendor clarification technical queries (TQs), and support of vendor selection and finalization in line with project and client requirements process and finalization in accordance with project requirements.
You proactively interface with Discipline Leads and Seniors for resolving issues, sharing information and progress.
You communicate progress and issues clearly to Senior Material Engineers and project stakeholders.
You ensure that the assigned scope of work is executed in compliance with contractual requirements and internal procedures, workflows, and quality standards.
You coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and third parties to ensure timely document review, manufacturing and procurement support, and high‑quality technical deliverables.
You may be assigned as Package Engineer with technical responsibility for the design, procurement, and manufacture of assigned packages.
Education
Minimum BE/BTech Degree in Mechanical engineering from recognized institute or in relevant field.
Experience
0 to 5 years Material engineering experience in Oil & Gas Industry Preferably Offshore (FPSO or Fixed Platforms).
Basic knowledge of piping materials, international piping codes, and material standards.
Familiarity with Excel and exposure to Aveva Engineering or ERM is an advantage.
Experience as a Package Engineer for Piping Packages and managing other discipline Packages interfaces.
Team spirit, good communication skills, strong analytical skills, curious and motivated to propose and/or explore new ideas.
