DEG focus is to bring about life cycle-based coverage of startups in various domains e.g. AI +, Robotics and components. ecommerce, fintech, platform, Edu-tech, Agri/food tech, Aerospace, Quantum computing…etc., across their life cycle, while identifying them when they are Soonicorns/Unicorns.
The team is to support clients with corporate and investment banking products including capital raise advisory, structured growth debt, ecosystem-based engagements, potential IPO and M&A advisory services.
- The candidate will have to drive coverage of start-ups across North China Region
- He/she would also be required to work on deepening engagement with the Venture Capital ecosystem
- The ideal candidate should be someone well connected to the Tech Start up ecosystems including VC and entrepreneur-community and be able to generate deal-flow
- The candidate should ideally be familiar with the Venture and Tech start up investing space, debt business, including to assess credit risks and structure debt deals
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand the suite of products and services of the Digital Economy Group (DEG) and the core strategy
- Liaise effectively and build deep relationships with VC Community, Tech Start up ecosystems and other investor communities
- Identify relationships/ideas to pitch to Soonicorns/Unicorns in line with DEG sharpened strategy and support RMs to increase breadth and depth of coverage from DEG loan prospective
- Work with ECM, SJV and DEG, to increase potential IPO pipeline
IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Over 8 years of experience in venture capital, Tech Start up and/or investment bank covering tech space in China/HK
- Preference would be to have a mix of IBD and VC/PE experience
- Relationship with key VCs/PEs focussed on technology investment
- Ability to operate effectively in an initial environment and implement structure and process as needed
- High comfort level with multinational financial services organizations
- Relevant educational and professional credentials
