Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our project team in China. Based directly at the yard/site during the fabrication, integration, and construction phases of major FPSO projects, you will ensure all corporate quality policies, project quality management systems (QMS), and international marine/offshore standards are strictly established, maintained, and executed on site.
Key Responsibilities
1. On-Site QA Execution & Auditing
- Direct on-site Quality Assurance oversight across yard operations, module fabrication, piping, structural, and topsides integration for FPSO construction.
- Conduct regular QMS audits (ISO 9001 aligned) on EPC contractors, sub-contractors, and yard fabricators to verify compliance with contractual and company standards.
- Monitor site quality performance, identify non-conformances, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and lead root cause analyses (RCA) through to verified corrective/preventive actions.
2. Policies, Compliance & Governance
- Implement and enforce global quality policies, Project Quality Plans (PQP), and yard governance guidelines on site.
- Ensure all fabrication and installation activities comply with class society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV), flag state administration requirements, and local Chinese statutory regulations.
- Review contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control procedures, welding/NDT specifications, and technical query documentation prior to work execution.
3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Interface daily with client representatives, classification society surveyors, third-party inspection agencies (TPIA), and yard QC teams to align inspection milestones and witness points.
- Review material receiving inspection reports, mill certificates, and vendor package quality documentation for critical FPSO equipment.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives across site management and contractor workforces.
4. Quality Reporting & Project Handover
- Prepare weekly/monthly Quality Performance Indicators (KPIs), audit summary reports, and trend analyses for project management and leadership.
- Oversee the progressive compilation, review, and endorsement of Manufacturing Data Records (MDR), Mechanical Completion dossiers, and final turnover packages.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 6–8 years of QA engineering experience in the offshore oil & gas sector, with explicit experience on FPSO construction, conversion, or topsides module fabrication in Chinese shipyards (e.g., SBM/COSCO, CIMC Raffles, SWS, Bomesc, PJOE).
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor required. CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI or NDT Level II qualifications are highly advantageous.
- Willing and able to work full-time on-site/in-yard in China under project-driven schedules and site policies.
- Strong working knowledge of international codes (API, ASME, AWS, NORSOK) and major class rules for offshore units.
