Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Engineering Leadership
Define and execute the global Automation and AOI technology strategy in alignment with Boyd's business objectives. Serve as the senior technology leader in Asia, representing the region on global engineering leadership teams and providing strategic input to STRAP (Strategic Plan), AOP (Annual Operating Plan), and MRR (Monthly/Quarterly Business Review) processes.
2. Global Automation & AOI Excellence
Lead the development and deployment of best-in-class Automation and AOI standards across all manufacturing sites globally. Establish scalable processes, equipment standards, and technical frameworks that can be replicated across Asia, North America, and other regions.
3. Mechatronic Process Innovation
Drive innovation in mechatronic manufacturing processes including converting, stamping, and web/film processes (lamination, coating, slitting). Leverage deep technical expertise to optimize equipment performance, process reliability, and material utilization across the organization.
4. Critical Customer Programs & Cross-Site Support
Provide hands-on technical leadership to Boyd’s largest Customer’s Programs in the initial phase. Build and mentor the technology team in Wuxi to serve as a center of excellence that supports Automation and AOI initiatives across all Boyd sites globally.
5. Capital Planning & Project Execution
Lead CAPEX planning, equipment selection, and technology investment decisions for Automation and AOI initiatives. Oversee the full lifecycle of equipment from design, development, supplier integration to manufacturing, commissioning, and operational readiness.
6. Team Development & Talent Management
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering organization in Asia. Develop technical career paths, establish engineering competency frameworks, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
7. Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
Partner seamlessly with manufacturing, quality, product management, and global engineering teams to ensure alignment of automation strategies with business needs. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to executive stakeholders and customers. Assist Global Leaders in Product Engineering, Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering by mentoring and guiding those teams in Asia.
8. Continuous Improvement & Technical Risk Management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging data analytics, machine learning, and predictive maintenance technologies. Identify and mitigate technical risks across the project lifecycle, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of engineering solutions.
