Appliances Direct is part of the Buy It Direct Group, one of the UK’s leading online retailers of electrical appliances, home products, and furniture.
For over 15 years, we have sourced OEM products directly from manufacturers across China, working closely with factories to develop products under our own brands for the UK market.
To support the growth of our commercial catering and appliance division, we are looking for a China-based Sourcing Specialist to work closely with our UK OEM buying team.
The Role
This role focuses on identifying and developing OEM suppliers across China, initially within commercial and catering appliances.
You will work closely with our UK-based buying team while independently managing supplier sourcing, factory visits, and trade show attendance in China.
This is a remote position, requiring a highly organised and self-motivated individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Source new OEM manufacturers and suppliers across China
- Conduct factory visits and supplier evaluations
- Work with the UK buying team to develop new product opportunities
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, and commercial terms
- Manage supplier communication regarding product development and specifications
- Monitor market trends and new technologies
- Attend trade shows and supplier meetings across China
- Provide regular updates and reports to the UK team
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working with electrical appliances or equipment
- Experience working with manufacturers in China
- Strong understanding of electrical products
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Willingness to travel regularly across China
Preferred Experience
- Commercial catering equipment sourcing
- Experience working with international retailers or importers
- Knowledge of OEM / ODM development processes
- Understanding of UK or European electrical standards
