ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Songjiang pilot line Supervisor is accountable for providing leadership and management to the Songjiang plant pilot facilities, including TPU reaction/ compounding pilot lines and PCG/LLS pilot reactor. This role delivers daily operational guidance to pilot line operators and carrying out a strategic vision for the pilot lines. The Supervisor is responsible for coaching and developing the operations staff while providing mentorship.As a leader within the PT organization, the Supervisor will continue to foster a strong commitment to Corporate and Plant HSE initiatives, including Process Safety Management (PSM), and Leader Standard Work (LSW). As a part of the PT organization, this role offers an opportunity to draw insight into both manufacturing and commercial functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Convey and ensure Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedural compliance within the pilot line operations organization, including periodic audits of operations staff for safety procedural compliance (e.g. LOTO, PSM), organizing routine Leader Standard Work (LSW) walkthroughs, and ensuring environmental compliance with regulations.
- Lead incident/near miss investigations happened in Songjiang pilot lines to determine root-cause(s) and implement corrective actions.
- Keep improving pilot line facilities reliability by working closely with maintenance team to ensure good support on equipment and fixtures, monitoring the PM status for key equipment. Support scheduling of maintenance activities.
- Develop and coach pilot line operators. This includes conducting annual reviews, career development discussions, safety and cultural discussions and providing timely feedback.
- Manage the Songjiang pilot line schedule and communicate the priorities on a bi-weekly basis to targeted stakeholders.
- Determine bill of material needs and work with Procurement raw material sourcing team to procure raw materials for the pilot line.
- Actively manage non-working, slow-moving (NWSM) inventory.
- Supervise, lead, and execute strategic initiatives for the pilot line, including capital expansions, business processes, and organizational structure improvements.
- Design processes, prepare engineering estimates, and coordinate capital projects on pilot plant equipment.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical members of product development teams to understand and apply project needs for successful scale up and product realization.
- Apply and maintain appropriate HSES systems associated with new chemical introduction, Management of Change (MOC), and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Manage pilot line expense and capital budget and attend monthly budget review meetings.
- Work with the song jiang Plant finance team to review monthly raw material consumptions, R&D material tax credits and budget deviations.
- Generate yearly management feedback report which captures key measures of success.
REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or higher-level degree in Chemical Engineering/ Polymer Engineering.
- Previous personnel management experience preferred.
- Very strong “hands-on” mechanically and chemically oriented process-engineering skills.
- Knowledge of unit operations and process/equipment calculations and design.
- Strong fundamental knowledge in chemical engineering principles with proven problem-solving abilities.
- Strong project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems and job aids.
- Knowledge of chemical and polymer unit operations, including process and equipment design.
- Knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and data analysis using fundamental statistical techniques and statistical software.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with others at all levels and in multiple locations within the organization.
- Experience managing both internal and external customer expectations.
- Other Experiences Preferred:
- 2-5 years of pilot or manufacturing operations experience, required.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing operations experience, required.
