Senior Manager, Research & Development
Role Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Manager, Research & Development to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the development of next-generation sensor technologies and industrial automation products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and product innovation, driving the successful development of new products from concept through commercialization.
Working closely with Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and global R&D teams, you will define technology roadmaps, accelerate innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, competitive products that support business growth and customer success.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary R&D team comprising Electronics, Firmware, Optical, and Mechanical Engineers.
Drive the development of innovative sensor products and technologies, from concept generation through design, validation, and product launch.
Partner with Product Management to define product requirements, technical specifications, business cases, and development priorities.
Establish and execute technology roadmaps aligned with market opportunities and long-term business objectives.
Oversee the design and review of electronic, optical, and mechanical system architectures, ensuring robust and manufacturable product solutions.
Ensure all R&D projects achieve agreed targets for quality, cost, performance, and time-to-market.
Foster cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to accelerate product commercialization and operational readiness.
Provide technical leadership and support for complex engineering challenges, production issues, and continuous product improvements.
Promote a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning while developing technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, project prioritization, and performance management to support business growth objectives.
Role Requirements:
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, Optoelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant industry experience in product development, engineering design, or industrial technology environments.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex product development projects.
Strong technical expertise in analog and digital electronics, electromechanical systems, and product design methodologies.
Experience in sensor technologies, optical systems, industrial automation, or related technologies is highly desirable.
Knowledge of simulation and engineering analysis tools such as P-Spice, finite element analysis (FEA), or equivalent software.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical innovation, customer requirements, and business objectives.
Fluent Mandarin Chinese and professional proficiency in English is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, project management, and people leadership capabilities.
