Role Overview
This position is responsible for developing and supporting new and existing optical products that meet or exceed customer expectations. The role works closely with Senior Engineers and the manager to drive product development projects, contributing to business growth and revenue. Design work will be reviewed by Senior Engineers, who will provide guidance as needed.
Key Responsibilities

Develop new products and support enhancements to existing products under the guidance of Senior Engineers and the manager

Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Coordinate cross-functional activities with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams through Engineering Change Request (ECR) processes

Support product testing by coordinating with reliability labs (e.g., preparing test requests, samples, and boards)

Perform design verification to ensure compliance with customer specifications and UL requirements

Review manufacturing and sales drawings for accuracy and completeness

Maintain and upload BOMs (Bill of Materials) and material master data in SAP or relevant systems

Support and comply with TQM, Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S policies and procedures

Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
-
Required: Bachelor's degree or above in Physics, Optics, or a related field

Preferred: Master's degree in Optics or Physics
Work Experience
-
Required:
-
Minimum 5 years (Bachelor) or 3 years (Master) of experience in optical communications or passive components
-
Preferred:
-
Experience designing optical products such as WDM, optical switches, circulators, thin-film filters (TF), DCM, or interleavers
Skills & Competencies
Required
-
Proficiency in optical simulation or hands-on experience with optical assembly processes

Ability to solve complex problems in optical design and product development

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

Familiarity with tools such as Zemax, MathCAD, or MATLAB
-
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred

Familiarity with manufacturing processes, especially optical assembly and hermetic sealing/packaging

Knowledge of optical material properties
