Assistant Manager, Research & Development
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, R&D to support the successful execution of new product development projects within our engineering team. This role serves as a key link between R&D, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and other business functions, ensuring effective project coordination, technical documentation management, testing support, and engineering change control.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in driving product development efficiency, maintaining engineering data integrity, supporting prototype and testing activities, and contributing to the successful launch of innovative products into production.
Role Responsibilities:
Coordinate and maintain R&D documentation, including specifications, drawings, BOMs, test records, engineering changes, and technical files, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and version control.
Support new product development projects by tracking milestones, monitoring progress, preparing project status updates, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
Facilitate communication and collaboration between R&D, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, and external stakeholders to support project execution.
Assist in identifying project risks, tracking action items, and coordinating resources to resolve issues and maintain project schedules.
Prepare and manage engineering change documentation, including ECR, ECO, and ECN processes, while ensuring proper implementation and documentation control.
Support prototype builds, sample evaluations, product testing, reliability verification activities, and root cause investigations by collecting and documenting test data and results.
Assist engineers with component sourcing, technical data collection, sample management, and product development activities to support product improvement initiatives.
Coordinate material requisitions, sample procurement, inventory tracking, and pilot production material readiness to support development timelines.
Collect and organize technical information, supplier documentation, industry standards, certification requirements, and regulatory data to support engineering activities.
Contribute to R&D process improvement initiatives, departmental operations, meeting coordination, budget tracking, and standardization activities to enhance team effectiveness.
Role Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Automation, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an engineering support, project coordination, product development, or manufacturing environment.
Experience within electronics manufacturing, automation equipment, industrial equipment, precision engineering, or related industries is highly desirable.
Good understanding of product development processes, engineering documentation control, prototype builds, testing, and engineering change management.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and basic electronic schematics.
Familiarity with electronic product development, industrial standards, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools.
Experience working with ERP, PLM, document management systems, or engineering databases is highly preferred.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments and project teams.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced product development environment. Fluent Mandarin Chinese is required, while English language proficiency is preferred.
