Objective of the Position
The Charging System Integration Lead is accountable for the end-to-end ownership, technical governance and release approval of the complete charging system within Plug-In Hybrid vehicle projects.
The role drives the definition, integration, maturity management and technical approval of all charging-related vehicle functions across hardware, software and EE architecture domains. As the technical authority for charging systems, the position ensures that all charging functionalities achieve project targets regarding customer experience, functionality, quality, cost efficiency and timing while meeting Mercedes-Benz standards and regulatory requirements.
In addition, the position acts as Module Group Speaker for Module Group 56.3 HV Components. In this capacity, the role provides leadership and technical governance for all HV component responsible engineers and represents the complete HV component portfolio towards vehicle projects, powertrain development, purchasing, quality management, production and global development organizations.
The position carries responsibility for driving technical decisions, ensuring component and system maturity, managing project deliverables and enabling successful vehicle launches through cross-functional leadership and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Charging System Ownership and Technical Release
Own the complete charging system throughout the entire vehicle development lifecycle and serve as the responsible engineering authority for charging system readiness and release.
Drive the specification, integration, validation and approval of all charging-related system functions and ensure achievement of technical, quality, timing and cost targets. Represent charging system interests at project milestones and release gates and take accountability for charging system decisions within the development program.
Charging Function Integration and System Leadership
Lead the integration of all charging-related customer functions, software functionalities and hardware components into a seamless end-to-end charging system.
Define system requirements, operating concepts and technical solutions across vehicle domains. Drive technical decisions and ensure robust interaction between charging functions, software modules, EE architecture and HV components.
Take responsibility for system performance, technical consistency and customer-relevant charging functionality across all development phases.
Module Group Speaker for HV Components (Module Group 56.3)
Act as the Module Group Speaker for HV Components and provide technical and project leadership for all assigned HV component responsible engineers.
Steer the development, maturity progression and project execution of the complete HV component portfolio. Drive achievement of technical targets, cost objectives, investment planning, project milestones and industrialization readiness.
Represent Module Group 56.3 towards Vehicle Development, Powertrain Development, Purchasing, Quality Management, Production and global engineering organizations. Take ownership of management escalations, development priorities and status reporting related to HV component development.
Ensure alignment of component strategies, supplier decisions and technical solutions with overall vehicle project objectives and long-term technology roadmaps.
Product Maturity and Strategic Development
Drive continuous improvement of charging technologies, engineering processes and development methodologies.
Shape future charging concepts and technical strategies while identifying opportunities to enhance customer value, charging performance, efficiency and competitiveness.
Establish robust risk management and maturity processes to ensure successful implementation of innovative charging solutions in global vehicle projects.
