About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to develop into an established Engines Account Manager, reporting to the Perkins China Sales Manager within the APAC sales group. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly growing sales team and make a real impact to our business.
In this role you will be accountable for the achievement of the annual engines sales targets and business metrics based on a Business to Business (B2B) approach, with key Distributors & Customers within the China region. You will be coached and mentored by a team of established Account Mangers to support your success
The successful candidate will excel in building strong customer relationships, have a passion to resolve customer issues through strong collaboration across our internal business partners to drive customer satisfaction and deliver business goals.
What You Will Do:
- Develop strategies to meet short-, medium- and long-term sales objectives
- Responsibility for the achievement of the assigned Engines Business Plan.
- Collaborate and partner with the aftermarket & product support teams within IPSD to ensure an aligned approach to OEMS.
- Improve and maintain profitability of engine sales through collaboration with product and commercial teams.
- Develop and implement sales account plans for assigned high-opportunity key OEM customers. Adopt and be an advocate for sales pipeline management.
- Develop a deep understanding of the key OEM’s that you have responsibility for. Work with them to develop effective working relationships across all functional areas ensuring Perkins are seen as an industry leader in 3rd party engine sales.
- Develop strong working relationships with all levels of the assigned Distributors or OEMs.
- Seek understanding, document and communicate customer requirements, business models, competitive landscape and other market intelligence to ensure all internal functional areas understand customer needs.
What You Have:

- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

- Ability to manage challenging conversations and conduct commercial negotiations.
- Understanding or willing to learn mechanical / electrical components and emissions legislation of Diesel Engines.

- Travel is expected. Approx 35%
Education requirement:
- Requires a degree in Diesel engine Engineering or Mechanical and electronical Engineering or Vehicle engineering related engineering degree

Job Scope & Responsibilities
- Support 3500 package assembly at CTL for products including the Oil & Gas and EP markets through
- Working with CTL Operations team, 3500 L4 Platform Team (Onsite at CTL), and US
based L5 Application & Marketing Teams to ensure the price list structure and
BOM are correct.
- Host and Interface with EP, Oil & Gas and Marine customers who visit the Tianjin facility.
- DTO project management
- Work closely with the local CAT Marketing Groups located in Beijing to gain a better understanding of how our products are applied in Asia (w/ China focus)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology, Electrical related major preferred.
- Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team member in the United States and China in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical equipment function and design
- Good understanding of electrical system design functionality, basic troubleshooting and communications
