The Tianjin Juilliard School offers a Master’s level graduate program, a Pre-College program (TJSPC), and a range of Public Education initiatives. The Tianjin Juilliard School Pre-College offers a comprehensive conservatory music program on Saturdays from September until May, for advanced pre-college students aged 8-18. Pre-College students work with outstanding faculty, many of whom are members of Tianjin Juilliard School’s collegiate faculty. The faculty will serve as teachers, role models and mentors, guiding students as they develop technical proficiency, while fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity. The Saturday Pre-College prepares students who exhibit talent, potential and ambition to pursue serious music study at the college level. Recognizing the importance of early development and discipline in the music field, the school will offer an atmosphere where artistic gifts and technical skills can flourish.
Job Responsibilities:
The work will take place in Tianjin on Saturdays during the academic year (September – May). This position earns an hourly wage.
- Prepare and teach weekly English for Musical Purposes (EMP) lessons based on the TJS curriculum
- Assess and grade students based on class performance and scheduled assessments
- Participate in the annual assessments for new students
Qualifications:
- Teaching qualification in English Education (TEFL/TESOL/Chinese English Teaching Certificate)
- Background knowledge of Western classical music
- Experience and interest in working with Pre-College aged students
- Experience teaching classroom skills courses such as English as a Second Language
- Experience of performance
- Ability to read staff notation
