Our Project Delivery Services (PDS) team delivers end-to-end project and construction management solutions for multinational clients across industrial, commercial, retail, and mixed-use sectors throughout Greater China and globally.
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Manager to join our PDS team in Guangzhou. In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of capital projects for international clients, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. You will act as the primary on-site representative for the client, managing contractors, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction through closeout, including scope definition, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, and risk management.
Serve as the main point of contact between the client, design team, general contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
Review and approve contractor submissions, including shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
Monitor and report on project progress, costs, and risks through regular updates to internal teams and clients.
Ensure strict compliance with local building codes, safety regulations (including China’s occupational health and safety standards), environmental requirements, and client-specific protocols.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, adherence to specifications, and safety compliance.
Manage change orders, claims, and disputes in collaboration with the client and legal advisors when necessary.
Foster strong relationships with local contractors, suppliers, and government agencies to facilitate smooth project execution.
Promote JLL’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and best-in-class project delivery practices.
Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of construction management experience, with at least 5 years focused on commercial, industrial, or high-end fit-out projects in mainland China.
Proven track record managing projects valued at RMB 100 million or more.
Strong knowledge of Chinese construction practices, local regulations (especially Guangdong/Guangzhou), and approval processes.
Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and spoken); Cantonese is a plus.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Professional certification such as PMP, RICS, or equivalent is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel within the Greater Bay Area as required by project demands.
