About the job
We are currently building our in-house Design for Reliability staff and are looking for a talented Lead Reliability Engineer to join our team in our Chengdu, China office. Our DfR team is a global team with a global footprint supporting our global Business units (India, China, Europe, US, Mexico...). If you are looking for a way to accelerate your career and be part of a great company, this may be the opportunity for you.
In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a Design for Reliability engineering programs throughout a product's life cycle. You will participate in reviewing customer requirements and developing reliability predictions, testing proposals, validation methodologies and other reliability analysis to promote the efficient creation of robust products within Molex. Leverage historical findings, information and knowledge discovered as a result of this process and apply them to future product development efforts such that Molex continually enhances its institutional capabilities.
What You Will Do in Your Role
- Manage multiple projects with differing priorities and provide directions to the stakeholders.
- Develop and execute reliability test plans to validate product designs, including accelerated life testing, environmental stress testing, and other relevant tests to ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements for reliability and durability.
- Review and analyze product reliability using techniques such as:
1. Reliability modeling and prediction to assess expected field performance
2. FIT/MTTF/MTBF analysis
3. Stress vs strength analysis
4. Degradation analysis
5. Assess product lifetime using analysis such as Weibull analysis
6. Physics of Failure to determine and eliminate root cause of issues
- Develop enhanced methods of testing to improve efficiency and increase latent failure detection rates.
- Investigate ways to utilize big data and machine learning to enhance reliability testing and create new early warning systems.
- Use statistical analysis to provide meaning to reliability test data along with determining trends or problem areas.
- Develop and refine global test instructions for reliability testing and provide guidance to global test sites and external labs as needed to ensure best practices are being followed.
- Support failure analysis for failures in accelerated life testing and feedback of design for reliability improvements to product design engineering. Investigate special cause events and provide root cause understanding.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in electronics, engineering, physics or similar technical fields
- 4+ years' experience in reliability engineering
- Knowledge of key standards used in reliability engineering, such as MIL, JEDEC, IPC & IEC
- Strong understanding of Reliability statistics - Weibull statistics, sample size estimation, etc
- Physics-of-failure simulation software (e.g. DfR Solution's Sherlock) and failure rate estimation software (e.g. Reliasoft)
Skills & Abilities
- Deep understanding of reliability physics and stress acceleration models.
- Proven ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
- Problem solving skills and ability to write technical reports.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complicated thoughts or ideas into simple messages or stories (via presentations) that non-technical staff can readily understand.
- Ability to work seamlessly with others in a cross functional environment.
