Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide expert guidance on protective coatings, surface preparation, PFP, and corrosion control across operations, dry-docking, modifications, and conversion projects.
- Develop and maintain company coating specifications, ensuring full compliance with Class rules, statutory standards, and industry best practices.
- Integrity & Investigations: Conduct root-cause analyses (RCA) on premature coating failures and support digital twin degradation modeling initiatives.
- Perform shipyard audits, offshore surveys, and DFT assessments on operating assets to develop maintenance and repair procedures.
- Manage paint manufacturers, PFP suppliers, and third-party inspectors while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients.
- Deliver concise technical and condition assessment reports; travel internationally to shipyards, offshore units, and fabrication facilities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical/Marine Engineering, Metallurgy, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Proven experience in a coating engineering role within the offshore, marine, or heavy industrial energy sectors.
- Recognized certification in coating inspection (e.g., FROSIO Inspector Level III or AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2/3).
- In-depth expertise in offshore coating systems, passive fire protection (PFP), tank linings, and splash-zone protection.
- Self-driven with the ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and offshore for site inspections.
