The Role
The person will be responsible for leading all tax matters across China operations, ensuring full compliance with Chinese tax laws while supporting business growth through effective tax planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. The role acts as the primary tax advisor to China leadership and a key interface with regional and global tax teams.
Your Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting

Oversee all corporate, indirect, and withholding tax compliance across PRC entities, including CIT, VAT, and local taxes, ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, payments, and statutory reporting.

Manage tax accounting, provisions, and disclosures under US GAAP/PRC GAAP

Lead and coordinate tax audits, investigations, and inspections with tax authorities
Tax Planning & Advisory

Develop and implement China tax strategies aligned with business objectives and global tax policy

Advise on tax implications of business initiatives, restructurings , supply chain changes, and new operating models

Monitor and assess the impact of PRC tax law changes and regulatory developments

Support transfer pricing implementation, documentation, and audit defence in coordination with TP team
Risk Management & Governance

Identify, assess, and manage tax risks specific to China operations

Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with global tax governance frameworks

Lead resolution of complex tax issues and disputes

Drive consistency with global tax policies while addressing local requirements
Stakeholder Management

Act as primary point of contact for Chinese tax authorities

Partner with Finance, Government Relations, Legal, Treasury, Supply Chain, and Business teams

Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and authorities

Provide clear, practical tax guidance to senior management and non‑tax stakeholders
Your Profile
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or Law; Master’s preferred
-
China CPA, CTA, or international qualification (ACCA, CPA, CTA – desirable)

10+ years of progressive tax experience, with significant China tax exposure

Strong background in PRC corporate income tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and international tax

Experience in multinational corporations and/or Big 4
-
Proven track record managing tax audits and dealing with Chinese tax authorities

Deep technical knowledge of PRC tax laws and regulations

Strong judgment and problem‑solving capabilities

Ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast‑changing regulatory environment

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
-
Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
