The Sourcing Manager, China is responsible for spearheading the Chinese vendor market and for assisting in developing local alternatives to well-known international brands. The Sourcing Manager, China will work closely together with technical resources for various categories. It might be relevant to support local vendors through the qualification process and maybe throughout the tender and project execution procurement phases.
The Sourcing Manager, China should be a self-starter with a pro-active approach in his/her work. To be successful the Sourcing Manager will need great collaboration skills to work across the organization but also good listening skills to understand stakeholder’s requirements and expectations as well as suppliers concerns and challenges.
Sourcing Manager to be based in Shanghai, China on a fixed term contract engagement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Get familiarized with relevant procedures and processes including the vendor registration and qualification platform “Avetta”
- Build basic understanding of the Master Vendor list (MVL) and how suppliers are selected and qualified for the various Project Vendor lists (PVL)
- Build a relation with our technical organization including Technical Authorities (TA’s) and understand their priorities
- Work with the TA’s to prioritize categories from MVL based on cost and criticality and identify relevant local Chinese alternatives
- Get local Chinese vendors introduced to relevant colleagues and facilitate a dialogue to understand if there is a match between offerings and requirements
- When there is a match, the TA’s must agree to add vendor to the MVL
- When new FEED’s are commencing, Sourcing Manager needs to promote the local Chinese vendors to ensure they make it to the PVL when relevant
- Join colleagues on Chinese supplier visits when requested and act as logistic coordinator, facilitator as well as translator as required
- Support project teams with local supplier communication and facilitation when required
- Ensure project suppliers are pre-qualified as per corporate procedure and guidelines
- Be available to support individual project teams with any relevant SC work ad hoc
- All other work as assigned
Qualification:
- Degree in engineering or any technical field
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Suites
- Effective negotiation and coaching skills
- International experience from either living abroad or working for foreign company
- Min 5 years as Procurement Manager, Contract Manager or similar Supply Chain role
- Sales or Marketing role in Oil and Gas would be a bonus
- Extensive experience in Oil & Gas Sector
