Introduction
We are looking for a Technical Specialist - Smelting to join Metso’s Smelting team in China. In this role, you will support customers across smelting projects, including commissioning, start-ups, troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and technical advisory services. You will report to the Head of Product & Technical Sales Support, Smelting Aftermarket.

You will join Smelting team and work closely with local and global Smelting teams, Technical Sales Support, customers, and cross-functional service stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Provide on-site technical support for smelting furnace equipment, including inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance recommendations, and operational guidance.
Support commissioning and plant start-up activities for new installations and major shutdowns.
Serve as a technical advisor to customers, ensuring timely resolution of issues and high customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with global Technical Sales Support (TSS) to prepare scopes, documentation, and support for spare parts, upgrades, and service solutions.
Participate in performance reviews, root-cause analyses, and technical investigations.
Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and feedback to support continuous improvement.
Contribute to internal training, knowledge transfer, and capability building within the market area.
What you’ll bring
Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in smelting, furnace operations, heavy industrial equipment, or site service environments.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Experience with commissioning, field service work, or plant maintenance is preferred.
Ability to work independently in demanding site environments, including extended customer travel.
Effective communication skills in Mandarin and English.
Strong safety mindset; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
