As we expand our activities in China, we are looking for a Senior Camera Reliability & Test Engineer to provide hands-on technical support to our customers and manufacturing partners during the evaluation, validation, qualification, and integration of Sheba's MEMS autofocus technology.
Role and Responsibilities
The engineer will work closely with Sheba's customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure that Sheba's technology is properly tested, characterized, and validated in customer camera systems.
Key responsibilities include:
· Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers during the evaluation, testing, validation, and qualification of Sheba's MEMS autofocus technology.
· Work directly with customer engineering teams to establish appropriate test setups, procedures, conditions, and acceptance criteria.
· Support customer testing of Sheba MEMS actuators, packaged devices, camera modules, driver electronics, and complete autofocus camera systems.
· Attend and support testing activities at customer sites, camera module manufacturers, assembly partners, and external reliability laboratories.
· Support environmental and mechanical reliability testing, including Temperature Cycling, THB/B-HAST, high/low-temperature testing, vibration, mechanical shock, drop, and lifecycle/endurance testing.
· Support automotive qualification activities and customer-specific reliability requirements, including relevant AEC-Q100/AEC-Q104 testing.
· Support camera performance testing, including autofocus performance, focus position, stroke, tilt, hysteresis, repeatability, image quality, MTF/SFR, and thermal focus performance.
· Ensure that customer test setups and procedures are technically correct and that Sheba's devices are properly integrated, powered, driven, mounted, and handled during testing.
· Review customer test results and independently analyze test data to identify abnormal behavior or potential failure mechanisms.
· Troubleshoot failures observed during customer testing and coordinate investigations with Sheba's MEMS, camera, optical, electronics, mechanical, packaging, and manufacturing teams.
· Lead or support failure analysis (FA), root-cause analysis (RCA), 8D investigations, and corrective actions for issues identified during customer testing.
· Reproduce customer-reported issues internally or at supplier facilities when necessary.
· Coordinate testing and technical activities with camera module manufacturers, semiconductor packaging suppliers, PCB/assembly partners, and other manufacturing partners.
· Prepare clear technical reports summarizing test conditions, results, failure analysis, conclusions, and recommended actions.
· Maintain accurate sample tracking, test records, customer issue logs, and follow-up actions.
· Provide timely technical feedback to customers and ensure that open testing and reliability issues are followed through to closure.
· Travel within China to customer and supplier locations as required.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
· 5+ years of relevant experience in camera testing, reliability engineering, product validation, automotive electronics, MEMS/semiconductor testing, or related fields.
· Hands-on experience with camera modules, image sensors, optics, MEMS devices, or precision electronic/mechanical products.
· Strong experience with environmental and mechanical reliability testing.
· Strong troubleshooting, data-analysis, and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
· Ability to independently lead technical investigations and drive issues from initial failure identification through root cause and corrective action.
· Comfortable working directly with customers and suppliers in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
· Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
· Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, microscopes, data-acquisition systems, and environmental test equipment.
· Good written and spoken Chinese and English.
· Willingness to travel frequently within China to support customer and supplier testing.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
· Automotive or robotics camera modules.
· CMOS image sensors and autofocus camera systems.
· MEMS actuators and MEMS reliability.
· Camera image-quality testing, including MTF/SFR, autofocus characterization, and thermal defocus testing.
· Automotive qualification standards such as AEC-Q100, AEC-Q104, and ISO 16750.
· Semiconductor packaging, COB, wire bonding, die attach, adhesives, PCB assembly, and camera module assembly.
· Reliability failure mechanisms associated with humidity, temperature, contamination, particles, wire bonding, adhesives, and mechanical stress.
· Failure analysis and 8D problem-solving.
· Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools for test automation and data analysis.
· Previous experience as a senior reliability engineer, validation engineer, test engineer, customer quality engineer, or field application engineer (FAE) supporting automotive or camera customers.
