Position Summary:
Owns total product quality across global operations, including manufacturing, laboratories, suppliers, and field performance. Accountable for QA/QC execution, enterprise quality metrics, and risk based decisions when quality conflicts with cost, schedule, or supply. Ensures ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance through auditable, data driven processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Total Product Quality Ownership
- Own all product quality issues, from risk identification and containment through verified corrective and preventive action.
- Serve as the final escalation authority when quality conflicts with schedule, cost, or operational pressure.
- Define quality priorities and decision criteria across global manufacturing sites, laboratories, suppliers, service organizations, and customers.
- Ensure quality decisions are intentional, risk based, and aligned with business impact—not driven by workload or schedule pressure.
- Owns prioritization and escalation of all laboratory testing activities (QV Lab), including conflicts across quality, regulatory, and sustainability demands.
Quality Assurance
- Set escalation thresholds, response timing expectations, and prioritization rules for production related quality issues.
- Review trends and CAPA effectiveness and redirect priorities as risk profiles change.
- Ensure QA execution produces complete, traceable, and defensible evidence supporting regulatory and sustainability requirements.
Quality Control
- Ensure strong upstream quality discipline, including:
1. Incoming inspection (IQC)
2. Supplier qualification and performance monitoring
3. Supplier corrective actions
4. Material acceptance prior to production
- Define risk based supplier oversight expectations and escalation paths.
Management System Alignment & Audit Readiness
- Ensures that quality activities support audit readiness, management reviews, and CAPA system effectiveness
- Ensure laboratory and test evidence supporting quality decisions is traceable, complete, and defensible under ISO/IEC 17025 governance.
Quality Metrics, Trending & Tiered Reporting
- Define and maintain global quality KPIs (e.g., FPY, defect rates, COPQ, warranty cost, reliability metrics).
- Define system level KPIs covering management system effectiveness, audit performance, testing status, and sustainability compliance.
- Provide executive level reporting on trends, systemic risks, and quality priorities.
- Ensure operational level reporting drives accountability, follow through, and prevention, not just detection.
- Ensure metric definitions and data sources remain controlled and auditable.
Audit, Risk & Compliance Leadership
- Lead internal audits covering ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 systems
- Act as primary interface with certification bodies and customer auditors related to management systems
- Drive systemic risk identification and mitigation using audit findings, CAPA data, and performance trends
Warranty, Field Failure & Long-Term Reliability
- Accountable for prioritization and effectiveness review of early life and warranty failure analysis across markets.
- Identify systemic failure modes and ensure engineering, manufacturing, and supplier actions are closed and verified.
- Establish and monitor long term reliability metrics (e.g., MTBF, field failure rates).
Continuous Improvement & Process Simplification
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
- Apply risk based thinking to simplify quality processes while preserving compliance and control strength.
- Eliminate redundant or non-value added activities without weakening audit defensibility.
Experience & Qualifications:
Core Competencies
- Executive level communication
- Risk based compliance leadership
- Structured problem solving across hardware and software domains
- Cross functional and cross regional coordination
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills
